Well done to salah and Kerkez but apart from their goals they were poor.

The dropoff from Ali to Kelleher we could cope with cos he was better than Ali on the ball but the dropoff to Mama is pretty extreme. Almost Adrian levels. Mama can do the basics well when it comes to shot stopping but any other aspect he is weak.

It feels like we’ve only played away games recently. 5 of the last 6 games have been away and although we were crap we were less crap at Anfield against United.
Looking ahead 5 of our next 6 are at Anfield so a better chance to try and develop some form. Probably a couple of thrashing against Madrid and City in there but it’s a chance to just get out of this horrendous funk.
Slot really doesn’t appear to have any answers at the moment, but equally the levels of desire and intensity from the team are so poor compared to what you would expect. I don’t think we win a single aerial duel yesterday.

Schade running clean through and Mama stays on his line. One of the basic rules in goalkeeping is to come out to close the gap. Ali minimum would have been on the pen spot.

It's early days for him but I've been most disappointed by how little Mama seems to command the box.
For a guy who's 6'6" he seems very reluctant to charge out and claim/clear the ball.

For a touted amazing shot stopper, I’ve been most disappointed with him not stopping shots.

Looking at the bigger picture, I think we are due a poor season.
A couple of seasons ago we changed our whole mf, but still remained competitive, then managers and we won the league...
Now we've changed a lot of players and with a newish manager, also salah is on the decline and we are finally looking like a team in transition
posted 1 week, 3 days ago
Mama has played 3 PL games! And he’s been behind an unsettled and fecking chaotic defence. Give the guy a chance ffs.
I’m not saying I’ve been impressed so far (I haven’t) but I think a new team, new country and new league probably ought to give him a bit of grace. We’ve got players who we signed from this league struggling atm.
I also remember when Utd signed de Gea - he came with the amazing shot-stopper reputation and to begin with he looked absolute muck. Then he found his feet, got used to the league and was probably Utd best player for about 8 years. God knows how many points he saved them but he always seemed to play a blinder against us.

Looking at the goals we've conceded recently in the league, 5 of the 9 goals have all been a failure to win either the first or second ball.
Both goals v Palace were a flick on from a set piece, first United goal second ball fell to United who played two passes and were 1v1, second United goal we somehow left 3 United players unmarked, and first goal last night another flick on from a throw in.
Glass half full is if we fix that then we solve a lot of our problems, but glass half empty is it's not really something you fix in a couple of training sessions.

We need more defensive players in the team. They made the call to keep Endo rather than improve on him. We are gonna have to use him. Gomez could have been a right or left back option but we can't use him cos he's the only CB backup. This glorious window which even I got carried away with has major holes.
posted 1 week, 3 days ago
Yep I’d like to see more of Endo too. Just want to see a player in the team actually fighting for the ball, competing for the loose balls and occasionally putting the odd tackle in. Is it too much to ask for that?
Our lack of aggression and desire to compete at times was absolutely pathetic at times yesterday. I was going nuts on the match thread about it, and I just watched that 15 minute spell before half time leading up to the inevitable second goal for Brentford and it angers me now.
Once again, if we don’t do the basics of actually competing for the 50:50s, we don’t stand a fecking chance of ending this losing streak.

We are conceding goals trying to play tiki taka in midfield and losing the ball under little pressure from the opposition because tiki taka hasn't been our style. Once we lose the ball we are suddenly open.

It seems like Slot is trying to shoehorn another attacking player into the team with Wirtz which really isn’t working.
He needs to stick to 3 of Grav, Dom, Mac, Jones, or Endo.
Wirtz in the left or right position of a front 3 would give him more time on the ball and he can cut in.
Salah will be gone most of December, I think we’ll see Wirtz or Frimpong take his place.

Jones is probably out for a few weeks which sums him up. We see an improvement and then he gets injured.

Damsgaard was surrounded by 3 or 4 our players and they still didn't put any pressure on or tried to tackle him. They just watched him pass the ball behind our defence. Virgil and Ibou won most of the headers but none of our midfielders are there to win the facking second ball.
That's why i said at the beginning of the season Wirtz should play on the left because I knew we had the same issues when Elliott played in midfield. There is a lack of athleticism in the team and the club should have addressed this.
I would play Gravenberch, Mac Alister, Szoboslai in midfield and Wirtz, Ekitike and Salah upfront in a 4312 formation. He will be sacked soon, If he still keeps playing a double pivot and Wirtz in the 10.
