I never believe a word a horse says. I reckon he'll be back in 5 months 2 weeks. Just right for the FA Cup run we are going on this year.

Should be easy to find the source of this article. How many talking horses play cricket for Spondon?

Nat Chalobah on loan?

Season ticket arrived today

And mine Milf. It's just around the corner.....

Still to get mine grrr. Anyone going to Wednesday?

posted on 26/7/14

Not Nate Chalobah okay in a 4-2-3-1 disastrous in the holding MF role on his own, Forest ruined him.

Cork please but don't see why we need cover though.

Spartacus, before I went to skeggy, I paid for my Wednesday tickets, with the Neptune tours.

Well I only have to get the train and tram from where I live. Have lost Bernsley and Doncaster for local games this season but gained Rotherham. You want to be calling at happy valley for a pre match drink and taste the delights of around 200 real ales.

No chance of Cork, Southampton are losin players left right and centre at the minute.

What about Conor Coady at Liverpool? Spent most of last season on loan at Sheff Utd... you got any analysis

we need a DM before start of season and a striker

We have had an awful pre season but confident we can beat rotherham to get back on track

With Steve Mac as coach and the way we have handled (and paid for not any red dogs) young players I expect premiership managers will be bending over backwards to try and secure a loan at Derby for their promising youngsters.

posted on 26/7/14

Spart, you know as well as most Derby fans on this forum, we don't need any more young lads, even when the coaching staff say that they're here for the development squad. We need an experienced DM and a back up striker for Martin. In my opinion, if we don't get those 2 players we won't even get in the top 2.

Coady is a name I've heard mentioned but I haven't seen him play. I had thought Chalobah a good shout but bow to Wellies' superior knowledge.

This particular position is a crucial one in my opinion, and what may be best for a young player being loaned out by a Premiership club may not necessarily be best for us. We can't afford for some lad to gain his experience by making mistakes with us. I thought Thorne was unusual in this respect in that he is a very mature player for one with few games. Unless there is a youngster of similar ilk I would prefer to give the Coutts/Eustace pair the chance of fighting for the spot, assuming Coutts is fit. As ever it all depends on the player and I expect SM will know his business.

It seems the back four is decided but I feel that if so we need an extra centre-half, maybe Duffy. O'Brien has been decent in the past but I just don't feel he has the height which we need.

I like the idea of Lingard if it is true we are interested. Up top I would really like Wood if he is available. Clearly the fee would be significant but the fact that we were apparently making decent bids for both the guy at Bournemouth and Jutkiewicz while the Thorne negotiations were continuing would suggest that there is still a bit in the pot. If Wood is not a option I would really like Nick Powell who not all of us rate but who looks a very good player to me.

Peni, what meds are you on?
Aside from GT getting injured, how had this been an awful pre season?
We lost 2-0 to zenit, who are a champions league side which was a decent effort and we've had positive results in the other pre season games.
Why the pessimism? 😉

Peeder he might be referring to us losing George Thorne through injury. Also, some of the signings we've done for this up and coming season, don't really inspire us do they. We still haven't really replaced Bamford, we're gambling with a young lad instead of the experienced Andre Wisdom, and we still need a DM cause the one we brought in got injured. Let's just hope Steve a Mac has got something up his sleeve ay?

Sometimes you only get one chance. Was ours last season at Wembley?

I was convinced after GT signed we would get automatic promotion. Now I'm not at all sure.

I sincerely hope my negative feeling are wrong.

Think you will find Christie is more experienced than Wisdom, Wassa. Whether he is as good is another matter.

If SM is looking at the loan market for a replacement for GT then he obviously doesn't think Eustace or Coutts are up to it.

Who could we get to play second fiddle to coldplay. We might be stuck with Conor Sammon.

CF: What about Shola Ameobi on a free? Wouldn't set the world alight but assuming his wage demands are reasonable, could be an interesting option off the bench. At least he's used to being a sub having made a career at it.

You might only get one chance if you are having a punt at it, spending big and gambling it will pay off in the short-term, or if you do what Watford did and fill the team with foreign loanees who all disappear again.

Neither of these are the case with Derby. We have been gradually rebuilding the backbone of the club under Clough and now have a coach who has taken it to the next level. The team that got Derby into contention last year did not contain Thorne, and Bamford was a bit-part player who by the end didn't really feature at all. Wisdom was a class loanee but limited going forward and has been replaced by a more natural attacking full-back.

The club is progressing on and off the field. Many of our brightest players have just signed long contracts and many of the first team are very much improving as players. We have still not seen anything like what is still to come from the likes of Forsyth, Hendrick, Hughes, Dawkins, Russell and others.

When it's like that you don't just get one shot. You have confidence in what you are doing. If you do the right things then the right outcome results.

MILF

Ameobi had occurred to me previously, surprised he hasn't got fixed up. He is said to be a fantastic lad to have around the dressing room as well. Would be well worth asking about how much he wants.
