We are moaning because it's incredibly frustrating and concerning and this is just a medium to express people's views that's all. There is a lot to moan about.
I am old enough to remember the dark days of the 80s and this feels like it could even go that way. Another season out the top 4 and we are in deep trouble.
Where has our attacking, flair play gone too.
Our recruitment is a joke, our scouting not much better. It's exasperating and yes we are spoilt big time !

We have a better manager, LB and CM than last year plus mata and Rooney in their best positions. We have also moved on the old guard and look to be moving on the likes of nani and Anderson. We also have 2 weeks of the window left. Yes we should have had more players in by now, and if we haven't come 1st September il Be the first to moan, but for now can we get a fookin grip people.

What BS. You want to wait till Sept 1 to add players . Season has already started and by sept 1 we might be done with 3 games. And with our squad if we play anything like last weekend, we will be 9 points behind competition. You can wait and relax for sept 1 if you have good players in team and are trying to add cover....

Is it surely not better to voice our concerns while things can still be done than to potentially wait till the window closes and we have not fully fixed problems that have existed for years?

We are concerned, last summer, this ESPN article and most people's general view of Woodward have put people in this position.

The REAL problems won't be solved until we get new owners.

Until then......we're trying to complete against clubs whose owners have their team's best interest ahead of making huge profits.

Madrid make a shed load of money, just like we do, and could keep a large proportion of it to share among their owners/directors. But do they? No......they invest it in the world's best players to wear the famous white shirt every year. Did they need James Rodriquez? Not at all. Di Maria, Isco etc........but that didn't stop them.

Barca are now doing same to compete with Madrid. Bayern are blowing the whole of germany out of the water and have bullied their biggest domestic rivals more than once now in last few years for players.

And City and Chelsea's owners haven't made a single £ of profit since taking over their clubs. They have ran at losses every single season.

LVG is an outspoken bloke who has said whatever he wants wherever he's been. You think he's lying about taking time to assess the squad? Paying the Glazers lip service? Can't see it.

In a nutshell but wait for the Glazer apologists to come on here and tell you how great they have done with business streams and revenue !

I don't think it's anything to do with the Glazers.

David Gill was very good at negotiating transfers for us. Ed Woodward is not. That's my take on it anyway.

The Glazers have always given us money when needed. Nearly 60Mil for Shaw and Herrera, 27 for Fellaini, 37Mil for Mata says it all. It's how we spend the money. We spend it poorly.

Is Woodward not the one in charge of transfers? He's been there for more than a few weeks. I thought we had it bad with Gazidis, this fella seems like a complete amateur.
----------

You think Ed is going out making signings without LVG's input.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
????

LVG tells him who he wants, it is Woodward's job to sign his targets. Doesn't look like he is capable of that. Took him a year to get Herrera done.

Very early interviews at the beginning of the summer LvG/Giggs let slip they had in depth discussions about where they needed to strengthen. He at least had a least of players he needed in areas. He did not just turn up to united after a long world cup and come in raw about not knowing what he wanted. Also Woodward mentioned targets they discussed early on as well as the article I posted with this thread from Delaney.

I agree LVG is outspoken but I think at such an early stage at a new job it could be dangerous for him to be so out spoken just yet.

The article states he was livid with the Vermealen non negotiations. Maybe right now he feels that being public could have an adverse effect. I'm sure he only states his views publicly if he feels it will help the situation, that isn't always the case.

What do you think voicing your concerns will do now?

If we don't sign a few players before the window shuts I'll be on your side. But as it stands you are all second guessing what is going on behind the scenes and the window is still open. One fecking game and everyone's moaning like b!tches.

Tulip - read the first line of your post and ask yourself if you are exaggerating. If any team lost their first 3 matches it would be a crisis. We have a new manager, new tactics and major injuries to contend with.

What did people really expect this season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I ma not exaggerating...lose our first three to those teams and it's a crisis, ok a mini-crisis.
personally I expected top 4 at a real push but LVG is confident, he said we will challenge for the title, that's what's expected. Unfortunately he has joined too late if he really wanted to see and assess all the players.
Top 4 will be a result probably and then just call us the new Arsenal !

We are suffering from not investing in enough quality when we were at the top of the pile.

Now we've ended up with a mish mash squad and fallen to seventh it's going to be even harder to attract the calibre of players we should have been signing when we were in a far better position.

I don't buy the whole throw cash at it thing. I don't think it's that simple as there's clearly a lot of question marks around the club at the moment and I reckon that's making it harder to sign top quality.

Yes, but LVG has only been in charge a few weeks. Without him telling Ed who he wants, what does it matter how long Ed's been in position? He needs direction from LVG.

I'm not moaning, I'm just concerned. And my concern is based on what I've seen happen to this club over the past year.

Yes we can all only guess right now but do you genuinely feel we are going to bring in the players we need? Are you suggesting that the ESPN article is lying?

I'll be over the moon if we do sign the right players in the next 2 weeks and will congratulate Woodward for doing so, right now though I'm very skeptical.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Then you're incredibly naive.

When Ronaldo left for £80m.....we signed Antonio Valencia from Wigan and Michael Owen on a free and people thought Fergie was choosing not to invest the other £60m.

And £40m of the £70m we spent last season (Mata) was a total panic signing trying to make up for the poor summer window we had. And despite Mata being a top player, he wasn't the player the team was crying out for.

The Glazers are parasites. I'll never change my mind on that.

It's best to not expect too much from this season.

LvG is a notoriously slow starter. What we can expect is eventual success and our youth players to come through.

I'd love to see the likes of Powell, James, Blackett and Wilson to get the LvG magic.

posted on 19/8/14

It's not just a question of cash, it's identifying and buying the right quality of player which is difficult. But there have been these players available and we have been nowhere to be seen.
Zaha, Fellaini, Mata, Shaw, Hererra a lot spent on these but really Mata is the only proven top quality player. Hererra and Shaw could prove top buys but time will tell there.

I agree but think we need to have a balance because of the position we are in right now. Of course LVG needs time to assess this squad and shouldn't make panic buys like you could say both Fellaini and Mata were. But at the same time I don't think it takes a genius to see what qualities we require in what areas.

Procrastinating longer could harm us even more, I think a slight risk needs to be taken because we've put ourselves in this awkward position.

82 - depends what you mean by right players. If your expecting Vidal and di Maria for £100m then I think you are In for a shock.

I can see us bringing in Rojo and maybe blind or another utility player. If we can get our current squad fit I fancy us for top 4.
