Morning Wassa, ive said exactly the same on Mostyns thread, We really need that extra option who is going to get you goals and Waghorn is that player. Theo has his uses and they benefit the team well when the opposition are chasing the game, but what happens when we are losing, could you rely on him getting a goal or two? i think not.
Who would have thought, we were lied to again!
Anyway, next time we get a problematic Referee, how about adopting these tactics?
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ac1_1314157051
It says he is free to leave, not leave for free.
We still need to shift Leacock and Bywater who are costing money without contributing anything before we consider signing anybody else. I think this is a sensible strategy from GSE. Derby have wasted millions over the last 10 years on players who don't play.
As for the referee, hope he called the police on the idiots who attacked him.
Good morning Roof exactly what I was explaining to the lads on Saturday, we need that other option, cause we could all see when Ward went off, and especially when Steve Davies went off, we didn't look like we were going to score in a month of Sundays, and bless his cotton socks Robinson was running round like Robbie Savage (headless chicken) he needs to improve his game Nigel
---------------------------------------------------------------------
SDS I have put the link of the linesman being chased on top of the article especially for you mate, and it does seem we have been lied to once again!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Spartacus, trust you to suss that out, I wanted the Leicester fans to suss it out, or those who support GSE. I'll have you a bet, that if we do get the player the money will be undisclosed.
"We still need to shift Leacock and Bywater who are costing money without contributing anything before we consider signing anybody else. I think this is a sensible strategy from GSE."
Really? So having your two highest earners, who have generated NO interest from other clubs from May to August, sat doing nothing is a "sensible strategy"? Two players who KNOW what it takes to get out of this division?
Sorry Spartacus, I cannot agree with that. In fact that whole quoted sentence is a massive contradiction. I mean, so until we shift those two the squad cannot develop and push onwards?
SDS until those two go we are exceeding our wage policy. Their ability good or bad is immaterial, they are not part of the plan and they are preventing any more signings.
we still have maguire and cywka who cant get a game, and tyson when he comes back
Ok, so tell me, what club in their right mind are going to buy two players regardless of ability, who have not played any first team football this season? If they were going to go they would have been taken during the summer. Which will probably mean they will see out their contracts and then be released, whilst meantime our young squad with high potential will be lacking the quality and leadership on the field until they are offloaded.
Tell me something more, if the likes of Shackell, Brayford, Ward the Davies's amongst other good potential end up at seasons end in a mediocre midtable position would you be surprised to see them sold for a profit? And where would that leave us?
The start we have had needs to be built on, not left to soldier on when the fixture congestion reaches its peak.
We already have key influencial players picking up injuries.
Plan? What plan? To me there doesn't seem to be one at the top of the club, apart from to keep raking in the money (Burnley Platinum Fixture) and scraping the barrel when it comes to squad development. Please correct me if Im wrong but havent we been told many times that the Wage Bill is down to a level better than expected, that the clubs finances are in the most stable position for years and that a good amount of money would be available to finance a solid spine to the team? Wasnt that what we were told the last three seasons before this one were all about?
Leicester to up their bid for maynard plus waghorn,so when sven says he can leave,he can ok but to the brizzies.
SDS
I agree we should be jumping in for Waghorn, or indeed Taylor-Fletcher, it would go a long way to showing the fans what the boards intentions are, but I imagine they are as frustrated as the rest of us that we have the dead weight of Leacock and Bywater lying around. I subscribe to the view that they're not a lot of use to us in the current scheme of things, and Bywater didn't help his 'shop-window' prospects with his play-off display for cardiff
Would love to see some moves afoot, though.
http://wantsomemoore.wordpress.com
The potential removal of Leacock and Bywater is purely tactical/personal and NOT financial.
Clough extended contracts for both of these players and also had fallings out with both too.
I could rightly understand Glick (or any chairman) saying to a manager "you've got two high-earners there, either use them or get rid". As a manager myself, I regularly have to justify my staffing levels, and having staff I dont need is frowned upon.
SDS Spot on
May as well just offer Leacock and Bywater half the remainder of theyre contracts and release them if nobody interested in them, either on loan or to buy
GSE probably wont get another oppertunity like this to buy players from a position of strength rather than to get us out of a hole
Its not like this would a massive gamble the likes that Ipswhich, Forest, Leicester, West Ham, Cardiff are making
Also bywater, leacock and pearson all told its bye-bye,as soon as any bids come in.
SDS, do you think that Bywater and Leacock offered leadership on the field. I never saw any evidence of it. In fact I think that while both players are good technically the one thing both lacked was leadership. Look at the way Fielding and Shackell marshall the defence. Bywater relied on atheticism to compensate for his lack of positional sense. Leacock was also frequently out of position. I had hopes that Barker and Leacock would have formed a solid partnership but at times they would be on either side of the box with the opposition striker on the penalty spot with the ball.
Yes I think it is a squalid act of the management to make the Burnley game platinum but this is irrelevant to the subject. If neither players are going to be on the pitch then any wages are a waste of money so like Leicester with Waghorn, why keep a player who will not be able to justify his wages.
I disagree that Bywater and Leacock are not being sold for financial reasons.
They are probably the 2 highest earners, not making the first team.
This is no doubt financially driven.
Looking at the link on the article, I find it difficult to believe that Eriksson would refer to Martyn Waghorn as 'Waggy'.
It just doesn't sound like something he would say.
Thats my mistake Spartacus, and I apologise. I wasn't suggesting that they had those qualities, but for the money they are being paid, we could certainly find a couple of players who have!
My point is not about the pros and cons of keeping these two, but more about having two highly paid players sitting, technically speaking, on gardening leave whilst the squad suffers. It saddens me to read Fans state that its all part of GSE plans and makes for a good strategy!
And you may dismiss the "platinum" issue as irrelevant, but I have to disagree with that also. if its ok for GSE to use the current financial climate to justify such behaviour then surely a price reduction on tickets based on the quality of signings would be in order. Instead they spend less and YOU spend more. That sounds more like "the plan" to me.
personally Bywater is nothing more than a shot-stopper. He's a god awful goalkeeper on the whole and I'm embarrassed that it's taken Nigel this long to realise it! Especially after extending his contract and proclaiming him as England-class!
Leacock was one of the best defenders in this division five seasons ago, whilst he cant live on past glories, he never had pace then so shouldnt need it now. I actually think that Derby's defence in general have been poorly coached and organised since Billy Davies left Derby! Again, Nigel renewed his contract and missed him when he was injured.
Pearson should never be anywhere near a Derby shirt. Whilst he has effort and endeavour and his heart is in it, MINE would be too, but I'm not good enough for Derby, similar to Pearson! Clough renewed his contract too.
Sorry ain't spamming
Mojoca Great to see you enjoying the start we had.
Mostyn, sorry Mate but your campaign against NC is getting really boring now!
this isn't part of my anti-Nigel campaign. It's an observation.
If you was doing a fair review, you would logically come to the conclusion that decisions made by Nigel are questionable.
These three players are not figuring because Nigel no longer trusts them in the team, I think that's great! Especially Pearson and Bywater! BUT, Nigel DID love these players not so long ago and renewed their contracts, at the same time as NOT loving Commons nor Hulse and neglecting to renew their respective contracts.
TBH, nigel could do nothing about hulse and commons leaving
Mostyn
As you well know, I dont believe in coincedences. We have seen this time and time again during NC's tenure, where the top earners end up sidelined or apparently "out of favour". I can't believe it is a coincedence. The only logical conclusion I can draw is that he knows these players are on their way and then has a major problem fitting them into the squad. If they aint gonna be around for long then there is no consistency and they end up being a disruption to the long term plan.
As Bushwacker rightly stated, if they are earning too much, buy em off and be done with it. With the great start we have had and the obvious potential, for once, to have a successful season, why does the rest of the squad have to suffer to offload these guys. Just get rid!
You did hear NC's interview after the Brum game right?
