Derby v Huddersfield - R They That Good?

Good read that, and well done on your homework

Me personally, I'm not cocky, I've said we'll lose this one 3-1.

But I'm a pessimist (it's in my genes) but the other lads and lases on here aren't cocky. They're just in a positive mood after recent games and performances.

There's a difference.

I hope Hughes is in the team. He and Martin should be the first 2 on the team sheet.

If we are worrying about playing the likes of Huddersfield at home, it's time we packed up!

We will win easily if the correct team is picked, like:

Butland, Christie, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth; Hughes, Eustace, Bryson; Russell, Martin, Dawkins.

Win 3-0.

I reckon if we score more than them we will win. Vidal guided me to this idea on Saturday, thanks for the tip Vidal. Think I am getting the hang of this football thing now.

Vc10, that's cockiness personified. Any team can beat anyone in this league. You're not Chelsea

Yes, good read 2Ws.

You should ring a 01283 number for a good job.

We're not Chelsea yet, but watch this space!

We will win tomorrow, are you coming?

No unfortunately I'm on call tomorrow, so I can't leave the wirral.

I think you'll win. But ya never know.

I think if you try and play a high line you'll be in serious trouble ...Scannell is not only amazingly tricky, but is quick too. Harry Bunn not so quick..and you'll see him as a bit short and stocky...but you try and knock him off the ball. His forte' is running straight at defenders into the box..

I'm not sure Wells will play if Hogg is fit..in fact CP rested Scannell and Bunn at ipswich in a formation change..but at 0-2 thought it was time to go back to plan A..and we ended up disappointed we only got 2-2 as Ipswich just found it impossible to stop the onslaught that followed.

Fortunately (for us) wing play is not the only string to our bow..Grant Holt excels at holding up the ball and if he has the tricky Wells alongside then through the middle we'll go...

For me, this is the most exciting attacking Town team I have seen for many a year...although I'll accept we are no way the finished article..we're weak on corners at both ends of the pitch...and our defensive game plan is very reliant on Scannell and Bunn working that touchline...an arduous task.

Another weakness we have, is strength in depth, or lack of it rather...with Vaughan still out injured we have ex Burnley striker Martin Paterson on the bench..very much a bit part player.

CP will have a game plan though, depending on how he perceives Derby..that is a striking feature with CP..he's not afraid to ring the changes to fit a game plan. I half expect he'll replicate the Wolves plan though...they like to keep the ball and wear you out...but were totally mullered by us tbh.

It's a good measure for Town, Derby are a tough opposition and it's not a happy hunting ground for us..

provided we can cut out the sloppy goals from dead ball situations (our biggest weakness) we will have a chance...and as in previous games, we'll be looking to get an early goal or goals...then see what you do about it.

In a 3 game run of Forest, Derby and Fulham I'd settled for 4 points as a good return...but now I'm thinking we could get 5 or 6...

I would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to the Great Kevin Hector, who was 70 yesterday. My favourite player of all time, I wish they would make another.

King Kevin's first home game was against Huddersfield on 24/9/66 and he scored in a 4-3 win. Durban scored a hat trick.

This is when I started going to watch the Rams, I stood at the Normanton end.

Jacko my idea behind the high line was to squeeze the play and stop the service to Scanell he seems okay in space but not so good when crowded. Does he have a good strike on him though?

Didn't realise Bunn wasn't that fast thanks for the heads up.

I agree on the cocky and happy front we've been accused many times of cockiness but it is for the most part reveling in the success of your team.

I don't share the optimism of Rams fans though, I think you guys are riding the wave still and there is an amazing togetherness during a managerial honeymoon period, we on the other hand don't seem to have our team spirit spot on and a bit too scared to hit top form.

I think this could be out toughest game of the season yet if you bring it, and I hope you do, we need to get over ourselves and start fighting for this title.

I would like to see that 3-5-2 again though Jacko or even the 4-4-2 as I think we'll be able to exploit it. Am possibly leaning towards the Eust for this game though.

Happy Birthday Mr Hector

I think Huddersfield are a decent side with a decent manager and I expect them to be in the top 8 at the end of the season

They have a good strike force in Holt and Wells, was a little disappointed we didn't go in for Wells at the time he moved from Bradford

However we are due a home win and I'd be surprised if we didn't beat them

I would like to see them have a decent season as I've always had a little soft spot for them even before Powell took charge

Chris Martin said on the Q&A last week that Wells was the player he'd like most like to partner.

We'll spank these; it's really just a case of 'how many?' that remains to be settled.

I'm disappointed that we still have to play against garbage sides like Huddersfield to be honest, but that's just penance for fcking it up at Wembley and so we must take our medicine and pretend to be excited by the visit of, what, the seventh-best team in Yorkshire..? I just hope Schtevie can get the lads up for this as it's obvious a bit of complacency has crept into the squad, and perhaps embarrassment at having to play nobodies like Huddersfield, so we must just get the job done.. it's not great-tasting medicine but it'll build character.

You are obviously not familiar with our resident troll hydy. If you don't respond he will get back under the bridge, provided the bridge is wide enough.

I would bring in Roos for Butland. Give the lad a chance. Surely he couldn't do any worse?

posted on 3/11/14

Can Roos kick the ball to the wings without it going in to touch? If so he gets the nod over Butland.
