I am still gutted about the result yesterday.
Currently the UK has the number one ranked health service in the world and it will be sold off and privatised by the Tory's under this Murdoch media myth that it is flucked and will be better. It's only that 32 Tories are on private healthcare boards and Murdoch has Medical interests and cash to make off of a sale. This will happen and the NHS will fail.
We do need a federal system in the UK whereby all the countries are run independently, as Scotland wants a Scandinavian model country and England doesn't.
I do think England should have 2 at least assemblies for English issues as well. One in the North and one in the South.
Scottish Nationalism is winding English voters up. It's should be for all equally. However the way the Scottish vote was attacked in this election makes me want independence now. We will never be treated equally in the Union at all and so should leave. We are continually government by governments who we don't wish for and the English are brainwashed into turning the country into a poor version of America, which is run in a joke way for big business.
On good note. Got my tickets for the Rangers Playoff game today.

After reading some of your posts, and others here,it has contributed to my new world order view, lol.
Nationalism/unionism and any fundamentalism leads to tribal, racist and sectarian tension, and I see snp supporters with bile for those they blame for their woes, and as you say,Scot's nationalism like all nationalism's is a false creation, with lines on maps,us and them attitudes, and divisive propaganda.
Funny how snp fans at Charing Cross end up fighting, just as yes and No in the indy debate fight and hate, and we hate here in NI,with nationalism v unionism.
And while we sit in a country with food banks, poverty, fat cats milking the system, along with dole cheats and lazy bassa;s.

I just want Scotland voice heard as we are completely different politically than England. I have nothing but love for England and the English having grown up there and I don't think wanting Scotland to at least govern ourselves is a bad nor scary thing at all.

As the snp grow,so too will English nationalism, and a go it alone feeling in England, with Wales trying to get their voice heard, and the DUP seeking welfare reform from the tories,so it is a mess.
I love Scotland and the people, but the snp stance has helped me feel apart from many there, which is sad,but true.
I am going through the change,as I also feel apart from unionism here, and did not vote,as I am not into the sectarian and trbal guff anymore.
Sinn fein played the Catholic's outbreeding prod's card in the election, and the DUP were ranting about gay relationships, isis style.

I appreciate you view points TBBAB and I have always been against the hardcore Unionist view amongst some Rangers fans in Northern Ireland and of course Sinn Fein
However I think the difference between the SNP and others is that is not about Racial lines or religion. All other "nationalism" is or has been. The SNP's nationalism has always been based on people who live in the country geographically and not split alone racial or religious lines. If it was I would never have voted for it. There a huge difference between UKIP and SNP.

I am in flux politically,and emotionally/mentally lol.
I have no problem with people in Scotland wanting to self -govern,as I have supported Ulster independence in the past.
However,as you say, there are some nasty nat's and as you identify, certain Irsh republican elements, who are just anti-British,royalist and unionist, and sinn fein admit their support and gloating for the snp rise.
That said, some of the staunch union supporters are bhoys,so I am not trying to be tribal here, for a change.
I just feel that nationalism in Scotland will divide the Scottish people, lead to English nationalism, create unease in NI,and I want to drop the whole idea of splitting the world into different wee groups.

No distinction between these contrived dotted lines on a map set out by a medieval war
I have rejoined the Labour Party today
Persuading others to do so as well.
As I have posted ad nauseam on here.
I have more in common with a Geordie nurse and a Scouse teacher than I do with a billionaire Edinburgh fatcat lawyer or a tartan swaddled absentee Highland landlord.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brilliant post TMQ and I agree 100%
Why someone thinks living inside the same historical lines as some tax dodging billionaire means they share more in common than someone who shares their financial situation but in a different country I will never know.
We have the same enemies and they are not the people that are exactly the same as us but on a different side of some invisible line, they are the people who use and abuse us, the ones who happily take our money and make themselves rich whilst refusing to give anything back.
It will only lead to English nationalism if they don't address it. It was madness to not create English assemblies. It should be done and would stop the rise.
The only thing that will save the Union is a federal UK. I would take that, as it would satisfy everyone.

York has been quite interesting in trying to regenerate with limited resources. Stuff like the Tour De Yorkshire looks to add about 40 million into the local economy. They have also much like invest NI tried to poach businesses to relocate.
Sorry Castle,I am not saying that the snp are promoting some racial or sectarian agenda.
I do feel there is an anti-English contingent among some Scottish nat's,but love of Scotalnd is not a bad thing,of course.
I have been thinking about life, the universe and me,in recent times, possibly due to a bout of depression last year, and I honestly feel that any political or religious movement that leads to tension, inequality or violence,is a bad thing, and I refer here more to extreme Islamism here, rather than the snp.
Nationalism is geographical, and where lines are drawn, and that makes is a farce, and an accident of birth,,,,,,,,,living on one side of a made up line,we cannot see.
They offered English assemblies If I remember rightly and the idea was rightly voted out as a waste of money...
The only problem is the Welsh and the Scots did want that extra layer of bureaucracy and cost which slowly resulted in the system we have now...
Forget the fact that Wales and Scotland were historically separate countries and people would have never voted in a million years for an extra layer of government and an extra parliament for a small group of areas, the vote would have gone the same way as it did in England.
Why someone thinks living inside the same historical lines as some tax dodging billionaire means they share more in common than someone who shares their financial situation but in a different country I will never know.

I totally agree with that and it's why I voted SNP, as the austerity lies were just that lies. The financial meltdown was caused by sub prime mortgage collapse in the UK which made banks bankrupt, which collapsed world markets, which collapsed UK banks which we bailed out causing debt.
Why Labour was blamed for this was laughable. Osborne has borrowed more money in 5 years than Labour did in 15 and yet it wasn't mentioned. Debt has trebled with austerity cuts and it wasn't mentioned.
Austerity causes debt to increase, but due to Murdoch the English believe the Torys are saving the economy and Labour caused it. Both of which are factual bullshieyte frankly.
We are doing nothing but subsidise Giant corps with Welfare money as they pay the minimum wage. Money that is then taken out of the country into offshore tax havens. People seem to believe this is good economics. The people are sheep and far too many ignorant, uneducated voters suits the Torys.
The financial meltdown was caused by sub prime mortgage collapse in the UK

Tbabb I agree with lots of that. Your should read Rawls and his theory of justice and innocent proposition. You can literally be born into an situation in any place. You just hope there is a safety net.
Scottish Nationalism is winding English voters up.
=====================================================
Well, not this English voter, but yes, it does seem to wind some up, for reasons I can't really fathom.
But it was also deliberately stoked up, as an election strategy (and I'd say it worked). The Scottish edition of the Sun urged Scots to vote SNP, and the English edition urged the English to regard the SNP as a threat to stability.
That's as clear a picture as you'll ever see of what the Conservative strategy was. In the opposition leaders' debate, they had an army of 'advisors' back-stage, briefing people, even though their own leader wasn't taking part.
The one thing they really do know about is power. They know how to play on people's hidden little fears.
To be honest, I'm not sure it's not going to back-fire on them spectacularly in the longer run, as Machiavellianism can do, but you have to concede that they got it spot on, in playing the electorate.
It would be nice if that kind of thing didn't work, but the truth is, it often does.
