Onibaba is well worth a watch. Probably my favourite Japanese film (although as always, many I haven't seen).

Very excited for the start of this. I’ve mentioned this before, really looks like it’s going to be a good one, with a few of the GoT cast starring in it. To really get the best out of it you really need to read the trilogy, though it’s an epic read so I guess most won’t want to!

In all seriousness though, you’re missing some pretty good stuff if you’re not watching content because you refuse to read subtitles.

I just find that reading subtitles removes a lot of focus on what's actually happening...& its tiresome

i don't know how it's even possible not to read sub-titles, if they are on the screen? it's automatic.

Fair enough, but I actually find the opposite. I concentrate more with subtitles and actually manage to follow it better. With English speaking programmes I find I miss quite a bit of what’s being said even if I’m concentrating on the programme.

Subtitles can be distracting but I only use them when necessary, such as shows where the language spoken isn't English. It adds authenticity and substance and if it means I need to focus more and read quicker, that's something I am willing to do.
