I have one of my facts about that film!
Rchard E Grant is allergic to alcohol. He doesn't have the enzyms that process it. So if he has any alcohol he's violently ill for 24 hours.
In Withnail, he's basically an alccoholic, and so the director made him (I'm sure he agreed) drink I think it was hald a bottle of scotch or something, to experience being absolutely legless!

No, I don't like them personally
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shame. Mon Oncle is a beautiful satire of modern life. I find it very, very funny, and incredibly tender at the same time. I also like his other work, but they play more like a collection of sketches. Mon Oncle is his most rounded work, imo.
Interestingly, I read once that he viewed his films as works in progress that were susceptible to being developed indefinitely. He edited "Les Vacances..." several times (the original was from 1953). The collapsing kayak that swallows him up was added in 1977 as a tribute to Jaws.
Perhaps now you're done with your top 100, you could turn to genre specific lists. I've always been a sucker for comedy - for my liking, there's nothing quite like delivering your message - especially a good punch in the guts - with a laugh.
Noir is another favourite, and obviously the combination of both. Big fan of dark humour too.
It might not make any classical list of top films, but there's no film I enjoy rewatching more than The Big Lebowski.

The dog growling at the barracuda in the shopping bag is good.
It was not my thing IOAG, but thanks for the suggestion.
The Attenborough Mammals first episode is really incredible.
💥 Thursday Theme Update 💥
Ahoy chaps! Last week was a busy end of the month at work so needed the time off. Anyways we are back at it.
We may as well give it a go…BUT I’ll make it a bit easier. Let’s give the top 10 another go. This time i stead of a full decade we will go from Jan 1st 2000 to Dec 31st 2004.
It’s a lot easier to remember films from this era yet also a bit more difficult picking your favorites. Especially considering it was the start of everything needing to be a trilogy I believe.
Anyways have it ye scurvy swabs
As the Shogun on this thread and the MCU thread, I will be the first to submit my top 10 favourites:
1. Gladiator
2. LOTR: Fellowship (I'll only pick 1 per trilogy)
3. The Last Samurai
4. Spiderman 2
5. Crouching tiger
6. Oceans 11
7. Pirates of the carribean 1
8. Blade 2
9. X2
10. HP The prisoner of Azkaban

In the Mood for Love 2000
Sexy Beast 2000
