I’d be willing to give it a go if it was a good satire but the first few mins, and the colours etc were nauseating. Way ott

It's got proper zany humour tbf, lots of Kenergy despite the woman stuff.
So I've heard. I've only allegedly seen it.

I gave Grave of the Fireflies 45 minutes (seemed fairly decent) and Hana-Bi 30 minutes (not my cup of tea).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One does not simply give GOF 45 minutes. (Boromir Gif)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
40 minutes of that was out of respect to people on the thread.
Not that I hated it, just that I didn't find it amazing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whereabouts in the story did you leave it?

The mum had died. They'd had a row with the aunt or whoever she was, and I think they were heading off somewhere else.
Tbh, although I thought it was decent (apart from the animation being about 60 years behind) and quite emotional, I really can't imagine any turn of events that would transform it for my personal taste into a great.

There isn't one moment. It's the whole journey from start to end that needs to be experienced, for you to appreciate it. The mum dying and the situation at their aunts are just some of the scenes that lend itself to the overall picture.
It's like watching The Godfather and looking for one perfect scene that makes it an instant classic. It doesn't exist. It's the entirety of the movie that does this.

If I was looking for one perfect scene, I'd have had to watched the whole movie.
It gets 94 on Metacritic, which is a huge score, so it must be very highly rated and enjoyed. I completely respect that, but it just wasn't doing it for me.

I don't necessarily agree with you on the first point (although I don't see how it's relevant!! ).
I pretty much agree with you on the 2nd point. And personally I wasn't interested in the journey. The kids could have been squashed by a bus dropping out of the sky, or they could have won the pools and bought a palace, and it wouldn't have bothered me too much one way or the other.
if you'd said that you can have the perfect scene, but it doesn't make a great movie, I'd have agreed with that.

Sadly no.
Eight for silver on Netflix is a decent horror/thriller if anyone’s interested, sort of sleepy hollow vibe, pretty cool
not expecting to like anything else about it, but the opening scene of Barbie is very good.
im @ 12 minutes and still watching.
can it beat grave of the fireflies?
I watched about 45 of the first 55 minutes. I thought the first 30 minutes was strong, but when it got into the memories shti I was out of there. It was also going to be a bit of a bad version of Star Trek the Voyage Home anyway. Could have been worse though.
Star Trek the Voyage Home is a bad version of Star Trek the Voyage Home
I'm also up to 1961 in the RToms100% list.
So far the best one's been Laura (1944), which I will add into my top 100, so a worthwhile exercise for finding that one.
