Be just seen they’re doing a Life of Brian stage show. Now that’s something I may be interested in. Later on this year apparently.

This Umbrellas of Cherbourg does have a certain appeal to it. The French and Italians were so inventive in the 60s.

posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago

That film did make my list (the final film considered).
So I have 4 musicals in total:

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
The Sound of Music
Cabaret
LaLa Land*

*a remake of Umbrellas

I have 108 films, so need to get rid of 8.

posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago

The 108 btw:
10s 1
20s 7
30s 4
40s 6
50s 11
60s 21
70s 15
80s 10
90s 11
00s 12
10s 10

complete co-incidence how evenly spread the later decades are. I'm amazed the 90s has so many.

On the topic of stage musicals, I'd love to be able to see one of Lin-Manuel Miranda's some day - In the Heights or Hamilton. I know In the Heights was made into a film, might watch that some time if it comes my way.

Likeable as in you think they're good people, or likeable as in you think they are interesting?

Because Christopher Waltz's character's quality.
I also think the 'nice' German officer and the blonde are really good characters. Also Michael Fassbender's character is pretty cool.
I must say I don't like Pitt in that though, or the bstards in general who just seem like a bit of a joke. For me some of their scenes spoil the movie. It does have some really great parts though. Maybe.
If you mean not likeable, then there's lots of good films with characters that aren't very likeable.

As for Lighthouse, it has some great visuals, which is what I like about it. Maybe though, I'm not crazy about it.

That the Willem Dafoe / Rob Pattinson one?

Same director as The Witch, with an interesting style. Film isn't particularly amazing though.

I should have said, that one was like the first flying carpet/sinbad film. It's not at all bad.

For my 100, it looks like the following will miss out:
Sherlock Jr (1924)
The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) Germany
Napoleon (1927) France
Pandora’s Box (1929) Germany
Cinema Paradiso (1988) Italy
Days of Being Wild (1990) Hong Kong

I think that's the beauty of both movies, they satisfy different needs.

If you want a deep monster movie that has engaging and multi layered characters, with some great bits of action sprinkled in, Godzilla Minue One is for you.

If you want minimal story and non stop monster action scenes, Godzilla X Kong is for you.
