Agree with that. Ignorance is a terrible excuse - and let's be honest, you've gotta assume that anything that is illegal in your country is likely to be illegal in another, unless you absolutely know otherwise.
The t1ts that caused the earth to move
Sorry I couldn't resist!
Did she even strip off naked? I'm not convinced she did. I need to see evidence.
In all seriousness though, even though she's still youngish she's old enough to be smart and respectful wherever you go.
I understand cultures vary from place to place but respect transcends all around the globe. This is the sad part that these travellers emitted out.
Sure it was a bit ignorant of her but come on it's just a bit of fun. I think the 3 days jail time and fine is fair enough though and not too strict.
I think Dunk's missus causes earthquakes when she moves, so it's entirely possible. Though, this girl isn't 18 stone.

Nonsense she doesn't deserve to have her face shown on world news and shamed for in reality an insignificant act.
To those that committed the offence it was a bit of fun. I can imagine that while they where participating in the stripping, they wouldn't have thought twice about 'feeling sympathetic and apologetic' to those who they were offending as they weren't there in person. It's only when they are exposed do they show their remorse. I can bet that if they were never caught then they be laughing and joking about it now to their mates in the pub.
didn't they pi$$ all over a sacred monument as well

It is strange, the UK moans a lot about immigrants but a lot of British people go to other countries and are very disrespectful.
Most are respectful, but quite a few of them are bladdered and causing problems to people.
Agree with OP.
In China I met so many idiots clearly there because they don't want to get a job and it's all paid for by the parents (to be fair if I could id pay for my kids to do it when I have kids). Just such an annoying outlook on life.
The yelled at officials who tried to stop them, píssed on a sacred mountain and stripped off naked...
It's kind of the equivalent of doing that in a cemetery.
I'm not having ago at those people who participated in this incident as I personally can see the lighter side of things, but when you travel to another place with different cultures and views, it can alter the way you naturally should behave at times.

It was a sacred urinal, built as a sign of respect and honour for the first person to climb Mount Kinabalu, Thomas Crapper.
What is it about this site that attracts so many pitchfork wielding idiots?
She made a mistake. It was on a mountain far away from civilisation. She did no harm. Now her face is plastered all around the world and she'll never live this down.
Is it too much to ask for people to show sympathy to people who don't need anyone else judging them?
Is it too much to ask for tourists to know what is, and isn't acceptable?
It was on a mountain sacred to Malaysian people, 3 days punishment for their ignorance is fitting. They wont do it again.

She didn't know it was illegal. You really don't have any sympathy for her? You one of those people who think people deserve to be punished for making honest mistakes?

She has really small bóóbs and an unkempt, wildly overgrown bush.
If I was a sacred mountain spirit, I'd be extremely angry as well.

If a Romanian person went to Britain and píssed on important monuments etc then they'd be crucified in the media and the public- justifiably too.
