Yes I've been there about five times.

And it's one hundred percent a Muslim country and some shariah laws are applied there. I didn't say anything wrong.

Matador - to all intents and purposes though it is Authoritarian. It is racially discriminatory designed to favour bumiputras, the ethnic Malays
(ie. 100% Muslim ). They have privileges in all walks of society. Some institutions like banks only permit the bosses to be Bumiputras !!! Of course there is plenty of resentment from Chines Malalys, Indian and other minorities. They all coexist pretty well on the whole if not always integrating

I've never been to Sabah or Sarawak but I've been to Peninsular Malaysia 3 times.

I didn't feel that there was anything you couldn't do there that you could do in the UK. Even small towns have a few clubs and bars and the locals like to party at weekends like they do in the west. The only thing the authorities seemed really strict on was drugs.

I didn't say they don't coexist pretty well I said that it's a Muslim country to which you and your buddy Boris said it isn't. However it categorically is a Muslim country that is just tolerant of other peoples freedom to practice religion. Just cause it's not a Pariah state like Saudi Arabia it doesn't make it not muslim.

This is what you said and slowly you are changing your words as you realise it is wrong !
"At the very least she should have known that Malaysia is an Islamic state ruled with sharia law. She was lucky she didn't pull that stunt off in Saudi Arabia or she's have been down to chop chop square for fifty lashings "
.....
As I said it is NOT an Islamic state and Sharia law is for the Muslims only (Approx..2007 census 52% Muslim)

Ok so it is an Islamic country and I wasn't 100 percent wrong on the shariah law thing. I can live with that.

You have changed your words now and taken mine that I posted after your claim it was an Islamic state.
Nobody has said it isn't a Muslim country !

Lol I don't really see the difference between Muslim country and Islamic state.

Matador - Still wrong !
The constitution grants freedom of religion and makes Malaysia an officially secular state !!!
Not wasting anymore time with you. Look up the meaning of secular please !!!
Anyhow it's ok as it's quite a complicated country. Supposed to ahem democratic elections but doesn't. The same party always governs and corruption plays quite a part.
for eg. Court rejects opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim against a sodomy conviction, sending the politician who poses the greatest threat to the long-ruling coalition back to prison for five years. Amnesty and Human Rights said it was a chilling effect on freedom of expression. The guy was fitted up !!!!

Britain is regarded as a Christian country but it isn't a puritanical state where the word of the Bible is followed to the letter.

Yip Yap Stam is a big Dutch man ....!!!

Tulip, I was told when I was there that the Muslims hold the pwer but the Chinese control the money.

posted on 12/6/15

Exactly right Boris ! Don't nat to sound racist or generalise too much but the Chinese drive the businesses and have the nous(?) . The Malays are lazy.
But I and a great time there, played football, worked and ate with both .
They themselves have an expression, the Malays are only good at two things:
1. Making Love
2. Thinking about Making Love

Spot on OP!

We always whine about people respecting our cultures, we should do the same

People don't respect our culture though.

Arranged marriages, female genital mutilation, forcing women to wear veils are not British culture.

The English aren't even allowed to fly England flags in thier own country as it might upset the immigrants

And they've relaxed their security laws to appease ridiculous religions. No one respects English culture including the English so I can see how English youngsters might make mistakes abroad.
