It's the fact he keeps getting out the same way which is why he should be dropped.

Bad times for England, lots of batsman whose places are under pressure

Ballance needs a big knock, Lyth is looking out of his depth, Bell hopeless

Difficult to pick 3 men who could come in and replace them, personally I'd be looking at changing Bell first

not sure i like the idea of dropping lyth already, but he is worryingly close to being in the not good enough for a test opener camp (which given all the recent failures is pretty crowded at the moment).

Only passed 40 once in 8 innings.

if he was getting out to different deliveries, i'd say be patient and give him time. But he seems to just have a technique issue, you have to be able to leave well as a Test Match opener, he's no better than Robson really

You can go back to lyth at a later date.. But hes not gonna do it in this series.

If the England management really wanted England to win.. They would bring back KP...I admit I don't like Kevin Pieterson. But this isn't about pride this is about reclaiming the ashes..

Bring back KP ffs

Lyth definitely looks out of his depth. Don't think Moeen would work as an opener though would he? Too loose.

Bring back Nick Compton

always thought carberry was harshly treated, but i guess that boat has long since sailed.

We need a more positive player up the order who can put the pressure back on the bowlers. Either drop Lyth or move Root to 3, or both.

No, we're far better off without KP. A) He's not that good any more. B) Team spirit is still good and we're 1-1 v Australia after 2 matches, no need to panic.

I'm not a fan of making too many changes too quickly, Lyth's issues alone would save Bell. I'd drop Lyth for Rashid. Either Ballance, Moeen or Bell would then have to open. Maybe even Stokes

No need to panic?? you see the likes of Lyth and bell being mentally able to get through this?? they gonna get stuck mentally. That will have an effect on the rest of the team.

Carberry was decent, but he doesn't even open for Hampshire any more, bats at 3

Can't be too harsh on Cook, that's his shot and he practically carried his bat in the 1st innings

Massive massive innings for Ian Bell here.
