this really is atrocious, worst all round home test performance I've seen from us in years. Completely outplayed and dominated in every session. Shocking.

Can't be too harsh on Cook, that's his shot and he practically carried his bat in the 1st innings
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree, Cook is the only one of the top 4 who has been scoring runs for us.
I wish the England management did something positive and brought back KP..I don't like him like I said. But the guy is the kind of player to get runs when needed..These guess are stuck in the headlights.
Can't think of many combinations of batsmen I'd have less confidence in building a good partnership at the moment
Bell nearly gone first ball.

Short memory... he also chucks his wicket away ridiculously when the pressure is on, on a regular basis
Aussies have bowled far better than us in fairness.
KP was constantly criticized for giving away his wicket recklessly, short memories.

Neo we never win 2 games ina row.. its shocking.. That ball to Bell there was good.. But hes way back in his crease. and defending deep..
KP has as much chance of being recalled as Geoffrey Boycott does.
Difference was KP would usually get himself in first and get 30-50 before he chucked his wicket away.
I.e. 30-50 runs more than these clowns are getting.
Think we will see a very green pitch at Edgbaston.
England look awful with the bat, and with the flattest of all roads to bat on also, they have been totally outplayed.
This will be all over today imo.

thankfully at least our middle order can bat a bit. Think we'll survive the day but lose tomorrow.
I hope not Neo.. That's a massive gamble of the pitch.. Same in this game. was purely a pitch to bat first on.
Not saying England would have won the gme. But at least they would havebatted first under less pressure..
They need to prepare a slow wicket againt at Birmingham. But England have got to bowl and bat better.
Wish it would start raining
Got to deal with pressure better first and foremost - the game can't simply be decided by who wins the toss, we have to apply ourselves when we're batting 2nd under high pressure
Then again, prepare a better pitch and bowl better and we'd save ourselves that much pressure in the first place. No way we'll get 20 wickets on tracks like this.
no use for slow pitches, it just makes Anderson and Broad ineffective.
Since scoring 143 against West Indies in April, Ian Bell's Test scores are: 11 ,1, 0, 0, 1, 29, 12, 1, 1, 60, 1.
You could say he's due a big one?

Incredibly positive spin on those figures... personally I'd say he's pony and needs dropping fast
Having another wicket like this would be a disaster. Aussie batsman are now full of confidence and would cream us around the park if we did that. Our top order collapses on every surface we bat on, so its better that happens on a good bowling pitch than a batting pitch.
We need to prepare a green pitch for Anderson and Broad. They can run through the Aussie batsman too with the right pitches. Then it's up to our lower order to score a few runs.

Agree
We need to prepare a slow wicket.. You often get reverse swing at Birmingham.. we need to bowl straighter.. Australia do struggle on slow tracks. Gotta get more consistent with the ball..
Aussies have bowled far better, they have swung and moved the ball more than England on this road, the England bowlers have looked military medium here
