Digby,
Players were not available because interested parties already signed them...Wenger was piiisshing about somewhere at that time back in May-June-July. Could have easily spotted some talent rather than waiting and banking on Benzema or Cavani till last min.
How can you justify and support this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i'm not supporting it at all, peoples first assumption on here is if you dont show faux outrage that you support wenger
i'm just saying not every player in europe is an instant improvement and available.
we did wait too long, we needed a dm and this is what shall hurt us more, letting in stupid goals has been our problem for the last few years, to win the league you need to be solid out the back, not just hope you can outscore the other teams, it doesnt work anymore as so many teams will settle for a draw or a scrappy 1-0 win against the top 4
Could have got Witzel at DM. Last year of his contract as well I think and a good player.

Digby doesn't think the likes of Bacca, Lacazette, Martinez and Cavani would improve the Arsenal squad!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
didn't say that did i?
the only one that really would out of that list anyway is Cavani, and thats not garunteed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think Welbeck is on a level with Martinez, Bacca and Lacazette?
Just. Wow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
your attempt to pretend im saying these made upstatements is just poor
do you still think henderson is on the level of pirlo?
see its not hard to spout rubbish
Name calling now because you cant counter any of my points? Go feck yourself or better still, your favorite pastime go find a Utd fan's coq to suck.
SO what are you saying? Are you saying that Arsenal cannot complete with Italian clubs because that's just silly.
These players were available and would improve Arsenals squad for sure.
Frankly renoog, you are talking nonsense

Witsel wanted to leave but zenit wouldnt sell him, its a shame, would have been alright
Wenger hasn't signed a CF that's turned out decent since Adebayor in 05/06. Since then we've seen the likes of Bendtner, Chamakh, Sanogo and Welbeck grace our frontman position, to name a few. Have there really been no good striker prospects available for 10 years?
Oh but it makes all the difference as it shows you r refusal to get out of your narrow minded view where every failure is because of arrogance.
---------------------
You're rambling just for the sake of it now and you have nothing to say. Where have I said every failure is because of arrogance or do you just invent strawmen and argue with yourself?

what player are you even on about now?

------------------------
No. None were available.
Bacca, Martinez and Lacazette.
Reportedly could have had Cavani as well but worried about the resale value ffs.
Wumpatrol, frankly you've been an idiot on this article. There's debating and simply just being argumentative to take the mickey. And you fall squarely in the latter. Not even sure what your point is. Are you actually attempting to defend our passive transfer window?
well only one of them is at an Italian team
Martinez chose athletico over us
Lacazette chose to stay
AC Milan moved in quick for bacca, he isnt the type of full on striker that we need
As for Cavani who knows if thats true it hasn't exactly been in major news, if you believe that im guessing you believed he was having his medical yesterday too
"What I'm struggling so hard to understand is why if the guy is so unwilling to do what it takes to compete he has decided to stick so tightly to his job like any of the tinpot 3rd world dictators, with their delusional messianic complex. We've basically been held prisoner by this man's ego and the early success he found in this club has become a curse to us because the good will that those successes earned him is seemingly inexhaustible and there will never be any consensus conviction to move on from him. Basically, we can't sack his arrogant ass and only him can do us a favour, step down and revel in the statue that his watered down legacy has earned him. He has seemingly managed to convince himself and the naive, gullible mugs that are so far up his bum-hole that there is no Arsenal without Wenger. Some of them probably think that Arsenal was named after Arsene?"
There you go, the biggest pile of drivel I have seen on this board from anyone. Still think I am arguing with myself?
Club talking about resale value despite of badly needing quick fix striker shows attitude and thinking capacity of our board. They all barring 1 or 2 think it's a business..bloody make money, get ££££ out of it as a profit and enjoy...trophies, popularity is all secondary to those kannnts.
Arab and Russian owners at City, Chelsea are hungry for success, willing to invest, willing to take risk and want glory for their club....these Kroenke's and Glazzers are parasite and sucking money out of the club.

Pay them more money!
You're acting like Arsenal are powerless!
I am absolutely certain Arsenal could have got one of those players but instead they've decided to win a bank balance contest.
Digby doesn't think the likes of Bacca, Lacazette, Martinez and Cavani would improve the Arsenal squad!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Bacca and Martinez definitely wouldn't improve the Arsenal XI. Martinez is average and Bacca is a nobody.
We already have huge squad depth so strengthening the squad isn't a factor.
Lacazette is someone we should have looked at.
We tried to sign Cavani on loan but apparently they wanted an extortionate amount for a permanent transfer. If that's true, we should have just paid up (but no more than the £56m PSG paid for him).
We needed a better contingency plan if Benzema didn't come off. Cavani in a rush was never a good back-up.
For weeks I've said Morata. He was the one. Staggering we didn't make a play for him.
I think wenger imagined the benzema transfer was all wrapped up early similarly to sanchez last year, something obviously changed and threw us off heavily, this has been our problem with not having back ups when our transfer attempts fall through
We've had Giroud up front for 3 years. Had plenty of time to upgrade.
For weeks I've said Morata. He was the one. Staggering we didn't make a play for him.
==================
Morata is a quality player but would Juve let more leave?
I like Bacca and think he would have suited Arsenal very well. Intelligent runner and good finisher.
If ficklepatrol AKB again
Morata is juves main man this year
Martinez chose athletico over us
Lacazette chose to stay
AC Milan moved in quick for bacca, he isnt the type of full on striker that we need

------------------
Or Atletico were a lot more interested. The guy is a self-confessed Arsenal fan since childhood.
Or Lacazette saw no strong interest.
And Bacca is better than what we have. You're making it up now as you go along.
Bacca is absolutely not good enough for us and Martinez is actually 3rd choice for country behind him showing just how good he is. Nothing has shown Lacazzette to be anything specialvas he was actually dreadful at the Emirates cup! Also I am certain Robbing you have not seen any of those players for more than 3 games combined so your opinion means of absolutely nothing. Remember Giroud and Chamakh before him both fired their teams to the French league title
