HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has won a ruling that Rangers' use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) was illegal.

Old club titles stripped please.

Why?

I believe when Rangers were admitted into the 3rd Division a document was signed stating there would be no removal of Titles and this was agreed by all clubs in the SPL at the time.....and this was when everyone judge us guilty before trial (which will have another few rounds on it) so please explain why the change of heart?

Aye I'm raging. It's beastly crimbo, I've just finished work which is going great and the news has broken that a ruling has been overturned with regards to a skint company that used to control the team I support which means that HMRC will likely recoup any monies leftover from it should there be no more appeals, before any other creditors.

Yup in foaming. This obviously has a massive effect on me.

Need to wait to see if any monies are recovered.

I can really see the scanario where they'd accept a pence in the pound deal (for anything recovered) as long as they have the ruling not appealed any further and that would let them go for the other users of EBTs without hinderance.

The SPL have already signed a document stating no stripping of titles will happen.... it happened when Rangers were sent to the 3rd Division... I'm suprised you are not up on these things?

That is a fair point, who do they collect from? the individuals perhaps but is the fact they got this ruling allow them to pursue others in a similar boat?

we all know this, the rangers fans know this.

There is very slim possibility the Nimmo Smiths verdict of NO SPORTING ADVANTAGE may be challenged; I doubt this but its a small possibility as the evidence given to him was that the EBTs where perfectly legal, now we know they where not.

So title stripping should happen, but I fear it wont

I spoke to a tax judge at the time of the original decision and that person felt the decision was going to go against Rangers, having discussed it with someone involved.

Strange how things have turned out.
