SPOILER DAY.

Ok... um.. I got nothing

My biggest gripe with episode 1 was the stabbing. How do people keep surviving lightsaber wounds to the abdomen? We saw it with Reva and now with Sabine and it's just a basic error that keeps getting made. I expect better from Dave.

Some of the map solving elements were prolonged in episode 1 but I'm glad we know the direction we are heading in, after episode 2.

Episode 2 was better for me. The pacing in particular. The lightsaber duel was nice and I think having a nightsister in the show, helps add the magic element.

Now they have the directions to Thrawn, I am expecting him to appear in episode 4. They can't drag his return out until the final episode now, as they have everything they need.

I thought the music was lacking in the show. Andor and Mando had a great soundtrack and theme, as did the marvel shows like Loki.

Also, this feels like a rebels live action and not an Ahsoka show. It's weird because Obi Wan felt more like a Leia adventure than an Obi Wan show. I hope we focus more on Ahsoka but now that she's taken Sabine as an apprentice, it's going to be difficult.

One of my biggest concerns was Sabine having the force and I believe they confirmed she isn't force sensitive, courtesty of that droid.

If there are more lightsaber fights, I'd like to see prequel level choreography. Ahsoka fought in the clone wars and if you've watched the animated show, you know what she can do. I need to see the acrobatics, the force jumps and other amazing feats.

So I believe this is what you call being Disneyfied.
But at the same time they contradict themselves cos in the first 5 mins, the Idiot Commander who let Baylen just come onto the ship is killed with a stab to the torso.
And then the next minute Sabine is stabbed.

One dies, the other wakes up in a hospital perfectly fine.
It’s facking dumb.

The lightsaber stab was just ridiculous. You’d have thought the backlash against it happening to Reva would have been enough to make them think twice, but no they doubled down on the idiocy.

What really annoying me about that scene is there were so many easy outs. Ahsoka was on her way, she could have badly injured Sabine, had her beaten only for Ahsoka to show up and Shin gets scared off and runs. Didn’t even need a conflict Shin could have sensed Ahsoka’s strength and fled.!

That was my only real annoyance. I’ve seen criticisms of the pace and moments of silence but it really didn’t bother me. Thought the music was really good (although agree about a mando’esk theme being missing Gov) so the moments with little or no dialogue didn’t grate on me.

And I’m so fecking relieved Sabine isn’t being morphed into some super force sensitive padawan. What I’m hoping for is they find Ezra, bring him back and at the end Sabine says - that’s your real apprentice, he’s a real jedi. Then set series 2 up for Ezra working alongside Ahsoka.

Minor point but given the almost dismissive way Ahsoka dealt with the inquisitors in rebels and tales of the Jedi, I personally would have liked the disparity between abilities to have been a bit more evident in the lightsaber fight. Show the levels, make it clear that Baylan might be a challenge for her but she’s way above the others. Minor point though.

Generally, really enjoyed it. No guesswork about where the story is going, it’s laid out nicely. If they deliver it well then I’m hoping it’ll deliver on my expectations and take 3rd place behind M2 and Andor.

I wasn’t that bothered by the lightsaber stab as it was to the side of her stomach unlike the captain that was through the middle.

I do think however we was bought up on any touch of the lightsaber meant you was dead.

The feeling like rebels thing is what I’m loving the most and hope it stays this way

Reva aside who is clearly just immortal.

Qui Gon’s was right through the middle through his back. This will have melted / snapped his spine and melted a good few vital organs. Don’t forget Maul & Obi fought for a fair while before Obi held his head in his hands so I think that’s why died.

Sabine’s was at least to the side so possibly a cauterised wound.

Initially, I did think Ahsoka not destroying the Inquisitor in swift fashion was grating but I think she might have been trying to capture him.

Another gripe I have with the show is handling of Sabine thus far. It seems like she wants to follow the jedi path and become a padawan, but that was always Ezra's journey. I wonder if they have trying to give Sabine a similar type of path, which would be disappointing, as she didn't show much interest in that, during the show.

Heard a fan theory which I would really get behind which is that the additional galaxy is some kind of alternate universe type thing which enables them to essentially retcon the sequels.

Show us what Luke really did after ROTJ!!

I hope this isn't the case.

The whole concept of the multiverse needs to be kept away from Star Wars. The other galaxy is called the unknown regions and I think keeping it as an unexplored galaxy, allows them to introduce new technology and characters.

Know what you mean but it’s worked in many other franchises.

I would just love for them to redo the sequels / retcon them to fk is all. I think they were the most disgusting things I have ever seen.

Generally agree with everything Guv said except the music - minus a hero/series theme, felt this has been the most starwarsy overall I have heard a soundtrack for while. So ok it doesn't have the cool Mando theme, but the rest of Mando I find not so StarWarsy in general which I personally am not a big fan of, for example the Luke corridor should have been more old skool.

The Sabine Jedi thing I can sort of forgive, as I like the fact she is a bad Jedi - though it seems to be a somewhat fake thing to introduce an arc that is maybe not needed, but I am willing to give it time to see how it progresses.

Must admit I am struggling with the timeline, what I have is:
End of Rebels
Sabine becoming a padawan
Ahsoka leaving because of something
"years have passed........."

So are feeling a decade at least since the end of Rebels?

I dunno string

As that Scottish chick said something about being captured by Ahsoka and her Apprentice

And Sabine says she hasn't seen her for years

But then apparently all those people are still loyal to the empire

So timeline wise feels a little weird

Though a little digging suggests it's round 8-10 years after Rebels. Somewhere I read 5 years after return. And Rebels takes place 5 years after "Leia, also starring that guy"

So it seems the New Republic take a while putting people on trial

‘That guy’

But this is happening at the same time as Mando S3..
so that makes sense.

I don’t get how Sabine is a Padwan though.
It’s like Disney just making up new rules, which contradict what came before…
But, let’s see where this goes

I thought any jedi (master?) could take a padawan learner? So irrespective of how force sensitive, if the Jedi wants to take the learner, they can. Right?

See now, I didn’t know that… what examples do we have.
What about the Midiclorian cell count?!

Btw, how come we haven’t seen any Jedi run like Qui-Gon and Kenobi did in Phantom Menace?
What’s up with that?

. Yeah, TPM was pre-social media so got away with a lot of daft crap that would be pulled apart these days. The super-sprint was just so unnecessary as well, honestly some of the sh*t SW fans have watched just to get to the cool stuff!

The padawan thing I’m taking from when QGJ said he was taking Anakin as his learner - the only objection the council had is that he already had a padawan.
