Except that France are the country most actively fighting TTIP. If you think the Tories wouldn't sign up to a TTIP style deal in an instant if it meant a quick UK-US trade deal being agreed then you're deluded.

On Friday France were reported as the ones working hardest to save it.

didn't ask for sympathy either thanks. just stated that its wrong to tax same money twice and family is huge so money will be going to many not a few

It happens to EVERY person EVERY day. You earn a wage. You pay tax on that wage. Then you go and buy stuff and pay 20% VAT on most of it.

Except for fuel. That is just cruel.
You've earned your wage, paid tax on that wage. But to earn it you need to buy fuel which is taxed at approx £0.5795 per litre. Then you pay VAT of 20% on top of the whole price of fuel (including the tax).

Although to be fair Ive just had another look and they have been against it more.

On another note, it said ....David Cameron in May.... are they having an affair!

If the first people to pass it on had thought about it, maybe they should not have left it all to older people and agreed with them to give some to the younger members of the family to avoid that situation. I dont mean to be rude but its not rocket science, its obvious planning.

TTIP is an EU-US trade deal and if we had stayed in it would have handed the NHS to privatisation by American drug companies. Brexit has put TTIP at risk becaue we are no longer part of it. Leaving may save the NHS.

The tories have been very silent about TTIP

It amazes me how they consistently deceive people.

Barely 2 weeks ago, Gove said he would not seek a leadership position too

Johnson, Gove and May seem to be the choice for next PM.

May has just shown too much weakness. Dont trust her to be strong enough in negotiations for this country, she will get ripped apart.

Gove hated by teachers and many others. Dont trust him.

Which by default leaves Boris as the potentially best candidate.

we did try to get her to do that but she wanted to keep it and its her money and like I said its not about the money and def didn't want her to feel like it was, would rather of given the money to charity than let tax man get his hands on it again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. As I sadi Ive had a couple of uncles leave £150m+ in the last few years and I didnt see a penny of it. Just be grateful for what you do get. It can make a real difference in life to have even a small inheritance.

It is rotten when the government let google make a fair donation to the tax coffers or make vodafone buy lunch or something, but will fight tooth and nail to ensure they get money off folk from beyond the grave.

-----------
No it is not an EU-US trade deal exclusively. The U.K. would also be part of it, the torys definitely want to be part of it
Cameron has already ratified some of it.

Our involvement with TTIP was via the negotiating block of the EU, as we are part of the EU.

If you think we won't be involved in any part of the TTIP through virtue of being outside the EU, you're deluded. We would negotiate on our own, but part of it we will be if the torys have their way.

British government has done everything possible to push the most extreme version of TTIP - to included ISDS.

Germany and France were concerned about TTIP’s corporate court system – which allows foreign business to sue governments for “unfair” laws like putting cigarettes in plain packets – the UK secretly wrote to the European commission president demanding he retain it!

That's Lord Livingstone our trade minister writing that!

TTIP is the EU-US trade deal and we wont be part of it when we leave the EU. The US have already pulled back as they wont agree to the existing deal without our market being included. The UK is out of scope for future TTIP talks.

Whatever we agree with the US outside of the EU is not TTIP. It will be a seperate agreement between us and the US. We will also have to negotiate out trade deal with the EU. We may ultimately agree a similar deal, we dont know for sure yet, but it will be a seperate agreement, not TTIP.

I would suggest you do some reading on TTIP. You are making some significant but inaccurate claims

posted on 30/6/16

It's called the TTIP for a reason...

It sets out the scope of the agreement to be Trans-Atlantic.

Otherwise it would just be called something like the EU-US trade partnership.

posted on 30/6/16

I have done reading on TTIP. I also have experience of negotiating multi million and multi billion pound contracts. I know how contracts work and we will not be at the table for TTIP as we are leaving the EU so will not be signatories ot the agreement, which is between the EU and US.

We will have to negotiate our own trade deals as our government, the US, the EU, the remain and leave camps have all said.

I find your claim very difficult to believe - as with everyone that has to promote themselves in this way.

If anybody thinks that the main points of TTIP will not be a mandatory part of any UK-US trade agreement is going to be sorely disappointed.

One of the main points of TTIP was to allow US corporations unrestricted access to the NHS and now that UK is not part of EU then the US will simply remove that portion of TTIP for EU and instead insert it into the UK-US trade agreement.

Anybody who thinks otherwise is totally deluded. We will want to trade with US and that will be part of the cost of doing so.

If you know how contracts work, you will be aware of the term addendum to contracts, correct?

Variations, notifications, points of order, special clauses, etc?

posted on 30/6/16

I never said they wouldnt force similar terms on us, just that it will be seperate negotiations and we wont have a trade deal in place straight away. You lot really need to learn to read what is being said and not twisating it to fit your own agendas.

There is also an issue you havent considered that as we have now returned to democracy, the government that agrees to a deal that hands the NHS over to American corporations may have to wait a lfetime to be re-elected to office.

posted on 30/6/16

When you say leave the EU, is it the same EU that we are going to for access to their single market?

What are the features of this market access?

I could have sworn we had democratic elections last year.

When did we abandon democracy
