I can assure you my family is not in the top 1.5 % of rich people in the world you clown
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If your relative had over £325,000 in assets, then yes, they were in the world's richest 1.5%. £400,000 puts you in the world's richest 1%.
People in the UK have absolutely no idea how the wider world lives.

Complaining because they had 40% of same money already and now taking another 40%
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As you said, its gping up to £1m. The change is already happening, you were just unlucky.
I've had a couple of uncles die in the last few years who the family reckon were worth £150m or more between them and I didnt see a facking penny of it from the tight b'stards. Just be thankful you are getting some of it.
Totally agree with the principle of inheritance tax. Inheritance is income unearned by the recipient and thus should be liable to taxation, even if the original income was already taxed.

And I just thought, they have paid 40% tax on the increase in property value already have they? I very much doubt that.
If you have £400,000 worth of assets (above which, as I said, you're in the world's top 1%), it is worth bearing in mind that as far as your average human being is concerned, you are obscenely wealthy.

Fking tax man has just taken 850k off the family after already paying 40% of it a few yrs ago so they have now had 80% of the same money .. Disgrace
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for your loss and all that but can you please try and keep your numbers consistent there's a good chap. Was it £850k or £800k? After all that is a difference of £125k to the total inheritance and I'm sure 95% of people on this site would love to inherit just £125k.
Also I don't think many on this site are really going to sympathise with you because your family had to pay tax on up to £4m inheritance and a few years later pay tax on the remaining £2.3m.
David Cameron should wum the country and activate article 50 on his last day

Theresa May is not the right person to be PM.
She looks very nervous and her body language is not great. If she looks like that now what will she be like in negotiations with the EU, US or Russia. She is no Iron Lady.

But if she went around with a handbag she could start calling herself Maggie May and using the Rod Stewart song at rallies and conferences.

Not sure who said it but I believe they're intentionally underfunding the NHS.. Until it gets to a stage where it has to go private. They have more than enough to give to the NHS.
Tax avoidance and avoidance is a murky area. All these global corporations that are channeling their money through several different countries to avoid paying tax. Is that evasion or avoidance.. Read something silly that Amazon only paid 1m tax on their profits..? Might have been a different company but you get my point.. These big corps are never chased. HMRC instead prefer to chase the little guy that's barely making any money.
-------------------------------
It wouldn't surprise me if the Tory's are deliberately underfunding the NHS, though of course there's no proof of that and the purchasing within the NHS is certainly not efficient.
Tory boys like Johnson, Gove, Cameron have designs on privatising the NHS - as does their terrier Farage.
The TTIP deal will allow the US corporations to get their hands on the NHS - starting with the failing NHS trusts.
You make a good point on companies like Amazon, corporations such as those headquarter themselves in a low corporation tax country such as Luxembourg. Then they have sister companies set up in their different operating locations.
All the sales goes to Luxembourg, while the sister companies effectively bill the parent company for services provided and the parent company can bill the sister companies vice versa (data services, finance charges etc)
Which goes against the P/L of the companies and reduces exposure to tax.
More prevalent with internet based companies because it's easier to make all sales attributed to one location with online purchases, rather than having a string of shops across Europe.

You can. Don't need to be in EU to be in it
TTIP is an EU-US trade deal and if we had stayed in it would have handed the NHS to privatisation by American drug companies. Brexit has put TTIP at risk becaue we are no longer part of it. Leaving may save the NHS.
