A reasonable request, do it for everyone, Henry, you are an awful pundit

Valid points from both sides. Just depends how much Henry wants it.

Wenger's right on this I think.

The likes of Chamberlain get slated for spending too much time on social media, so why should it be any different withHenry and Sky?

If anything, he should quit his media career to set an example.

I don't see how it conflicts with his duty as coach. Training for a few hours a day 4 times a week, then spending a couple of hours on a Monday night talking about football.

But it's not just coaching the U18's that's the issue.

The guy is meant to be betting groomed for greater things - possibly even the manager's position. Henry has a choice to make here.

Oh right, just Jack it in and not get paid his 4 million, while Wenger sits on his 8, will he reimburse Henry in any way?

*being not betting...

Every club needs to run a tight ship. You can't have someone working for a club during the week and then slagging them off on TV over the weekend. It's terrible for morale among the ranks.

That being said, Henry's gig with the kids was never going to last. He's a part-timer working under a manager who doesn't have a history of apprenticing young coaches.

Depends how much time his role with Sky would take up.

Can understand Wenger not wanting someone straddling two jobs, as coaching Arsenal's future clearly should be a full time committed role.

Money should not be the issue here.

Henry could work as a plumber from Monday to Friday and the club would still be OK with it.

It's the conflict of interest that's the issue here IMO.

Fully agree with Lex on this.

Committed to your job as a TV pundit or fully committed to work as a youth manager at a club. There is no compromise there.

wenger out in france doing pundit work on tv instead of trying to sort out the fking mess that is Arsenal FC

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The difference is he is working for 3 weeks as a pundit and only talking about the tournament and not teams and players in general.

posted on 12/7/16

Word is he's set to take up the same role at Spurs

If there's deemed to be an issue with that, that's up to Gazidis (or Kroenke ) to deal with.

Wenger made the right call.

There's more to this than meets the eye.

We had a major injection of youth-coaching talent in 2014, when we signed Jonker, de Kat and van Loon.

As far as I can tell, de Kat's already left, while both Jonker and van Loon have failed to renew their contracts.

The club probably wants to take the youth in a different direction.

I might understand if our youth academy actually produce any decent players but it doesn't, it's pretty poor really.
Seems Wengie won't be happy until he's all-but hated by all the fans.

Half our side came through. Bellerin, Gibbs, Wilshere, Coquelin, Iwobi.

Bellerin is questionable, wasn't he 17 when he joined us?

How many actual world-beaters come through our academy though? All of them are good players but nothing that really stands out. Wilshere possible has that potential but then he's permanently injured- there's probably no way of ever knowing if his injury problems were inevitable or caused/worsened by our youth academy (over-use etc.).

16 and played at the level we are discussing.

Stop shifting the goal posts. How many 'actual world-beaters' have come through any academy?
