Getting the best out of Pogba

Bastian won't play due to Jose. An oversight if you ask me, probably due to his injury record.

posted on 13/9/16

True but he's intelligent and would offer a lot, LVG planned to rotate Carrick / Schweini and between them they would offer a lot of experience / know how. This would really allow the 2 CM's to play box to box in front.

To get the best out of Pogba, Rooney needs to be dropped.

.............

And Fellaini.

posted on 13/9/16

Yes VC true.

I have nothing against Fellaini coming off the bench but he is out of his depth IMO and only thing keeping him there is his height / strength.

I hope Sat made Jose realise that Strength and height isn't all its cut out to be, look at City's midfield on Sat.

I agree. And quite often he doesn't use it to his advantage. That is why I find him really frustrating.

Rashford Zlatan Martial

looks so good on paper

Especially when he loses aerial duels. But again he has actually done quite well this season but not dynamic enough, Carrick atleast has that intelligence to play there but it questions whether or not Fellaini is there to cover Blind's lack of aerial ability?

Fellaini is doing fine under Jose. Saturday was Pogbas fault for being so undisciplined and Jose will rightly see it that way rather than Fellainis fault

Looks tasty and I hope only reason it hasn't happened is because Jose doesn't want to make too many changes to annoy fans by dropping Mata, Rooney and Fellaini may be a step too far. I would imagine they will gradually be phased out or we are in for a long season.

No way can you play Fellaini in a 2 man midfield, you may get away doing it at home against a poor team but never against the big boys.

Nothing against Fellaini he is an option but no way a midfielder, the quicker you drop this fascination the better.

I don't think Fellaini even jumped for a headed contest at any stage on Saturday, let alone win one. His effort levels were less than what you'd hope for

No he isn't. He is bang average. If that.

posted on 13/9/16

To be fair I dont think it was Fellaini's fault for the team's performance on Sat and he did decent given Pogba's lack of discipline or Rooney dropping back to help. That being said Fellaini is still pretty average.

Let's hope Thursday's game gives Mourinho some head scratching to do, with the squad players putting in a few undroppable performances.

As of now, people can moan about the likes of Rooney and Fellaini, but they have done as much, if not more, than some of the people who are supposed to replace them or suddenly thrive in a different position.

Pogba was in his favoured role in the 2nd half on Saturday and didn't greatly improve, individually.

The only players that have staked a big claim, that were not in the starting 11 of the four games, are Herrera and Rashy.

Indeed.

I will give LVG and Moyes a bit of credit here. They both experimented with Fellaini in the DM role.

They both dropped it very quickly when they saw that he was pants there.

Not at all, if Herrera and Pogba can learn to defend as well as attack we then have 3 in midfield, cant see us getting torn anymore than we did on Sat playing 2 there in midfield.

Again I am getting angry at that numpty Moyes for signing Fellaini for more money towards the end of that window, giving Rooney a new contract and also Nani a new contract as well and not playing him! Cant blame LVG for that though.

thought Herrera did well against City second half.

In tougher games, play him and Carrick/Schneiderlin I guess

Zlatan

then you will see the best of Pogba

I feel Mikhi needs to earn his place in the side, right now Rashford needs to play and Martial needs to be given game time to get match fit. If one of them falters bring Mikhi gradually, I kinda feel everyone is getting the Kagawa hype over him and we know how that turned out.

He is physically stronger than Kagawa, so should adapt better to the Prem.

No idea why Jose played him on Saturday though.

Don't think the physical side killed him it was playing out wide didn't suit him as a number 10. Again could be the mentality which apparently Mikhi also suffers from having a lack of confidence and Jose is very cut throat I hope he gives him a chance.

But I agree on starting Sat, wrong game for him and Lingard was way out of his depth, someone said he's a kid, the kid is almost 24, the pressure got to him.

posted on 13/9/16

Rooney should play sweeper like he does for England.

Then we can push Pogba further up the pitch.

That and the fact that he kept getting pushed off the ball to easily.

That would be a foul in the German league but in the prem the refs let it go.
