Gamboa was rotten. Athletico are a tough tough team. Hard as nails, we could have done with being a bit more like that last night (no not kicking and fouling) just being a bit smarter in defence and a bit more physical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yip we also could have done with Thaigo Silva , Sergio Ramos and Marcelo at the back
Don't know if it was they weren't used to the formation last night or if they were a bit leggy from the weekend but there were times where we had 9/10 players just taken out the game and just not reacting to or reading situations.
All of Messi's goals were horrendous from our perspective as were Suarez, just clipped in behind. Neymar's free kick should have been saved, so that's 6 out of 7 goals that were all our own fault. Iniesta's was the only one that you've just got to say fair play, it was a peach.

Leeds?
DDV has conceded 9 goals from 14 shots so far
Well that might have helped

That's horrendous. We just bought DDV so people would stop moaning about Gordon.... Well, all is forgiven Craig

We can`t downsize/regress for 4 years then expect to compete with Barcelona in the 1st season we have Rodgers at the helm.
We knew our weaknesses beforehand and feared this might happen. It did, but like a few have said, we need to learn from it and invest properly. The money for getting to this stage will allow us to do that and hopefully improve year on year. Do that and we can maybe keep qualifying for this stage.
Can't be too harsh on Gamboa btw, imagine getting thrown in for your debut at the Nou Camp
Brendan has to take some flak for his selections. I thought Forrest would have started as he works back more than Roberts. Sinclair showed flashes of good play though.

Definitely shouldn't be going OTT with criticism, we're a new team with a new manager straight into the groups. Lennon, Strachan and O'Neill all had a year or more to build their teams before playing CL football.

More for the organisation, less for the actual selection I'd say. The team looked good on paper, I thought it was the right idea to go with a back 5 but when it came to it they didn't really know when to step up and when to drop off, who was tracking who etc.
Maybe Brendan he expected too much of them or underestimated the gulf in class.
Some people on here are talking along the same lines as the manager in not being embarrassed and the gulf between the teams has been mentioned
There is/was the same gulf between Celtic and Red Imps/East Kilbride but I didn't see Celtic embarrassing either of them
As a Liverpool fan I can assure you it doesn't get much better in Europe under Rodgers...he was an embarrassment at times
Nolza,
His record is pretty poor but hopefully he can improve on that with us over time.
