“ Instead to point out people insinuating I am saying this because I don't care about racism or because I am white- which seems to be the view of one user on here,”

Erm no, I’ve said you don’t care about racism based on your definitions of what is/isn’t legitimate protest and your reductive arguments about those who speak out about it, and how they should react to racism based on profession. All your own words, not perceived or insinuated in any way.

I’ve also never pointed out or to your ethnicity.

Have the players said they’re taking the knee to align with the BLM movement or as a stand against racism?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I consider this irrelevant. You can't remove the gesture, motto and outlook from its ideological links merely by saying so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plus it says Black Lives Matter next to the score at the same time.

I'd much rather it was just kick it out rather than adopting yet another model from US culture

Despite the gesture pre-dating the explosion of BLM and commencing in a manner not aligned? If you choose to not support it that’s on you.

Well said Mr Rose.

@ArchRose90

Given that taking a knee is well known to be associated with BLM, a political organisation which aims to defund the police, footballers can’t complain when fans boo their meaningless gesture. There are other ways to stand against racism which isn’t taking a knee.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sceptical as to whether Mr Rose or indeed those booing genuinely understand what they are booing.

He is black. Probably understands racism better than you.

But I thought you said they weren’t booing racism; they were booing a Marxist political organisation???

You have said I don't care about racism. Which is not true, nor is it an argument.

As you have acknowledged over multiple posts now, the gestures are political. As much as the players have suggested otherwise. Fans have a right to freedom of expression and I remain unsurprised some are booing this ghastly US import of activism within sport.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet your comments on the subject contradict you.

Whilst making the argument you are against the players kneeling (freedom of expression), you think they should stop and won’t support the team whilst they do so you also think the fans have a right to boo.

You also ignore those bringing a political gesture, in racism, to the game of football. I’ve not heard you make that argument once over your stance against players kneeling. Because that is the ultimate solution to stop them kneeling. Stop idiots giving racist abuse at games & on social media, agreed?

1) If you are citing freedom of anything why are you then making an argument to stop another group of people doing an action you object to?

2) Why keep equating the national football team to a political party you don’t agree with? I’ve not seen any links between the two. It makes a mockery of your ‘keep politics out of football’ argument.

3) Have you seen any players specifically state this or is this an assumption on your part? Don’t see the purpose in deflecting the cause of action to predominantly about BLM and less so about racism in the game when it’s about both. The fact taking a knee started in sport is also ignored.

4) Again with this

What of the cause of the problem in the first place? Those giving out racist abuse. They are the ones bringing the political problem of racism into the game.

Actually I think people boo for many reasons.

Some are possibly bigoted or thick or trolljng.
Others informed and disagree politically.
Others have a gut dislike of being lectured by millionaires.

Not sure how any of that is incompatible with anything I have written on here and wby you are trying gotcha games?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is playing gotcha games? I think you’re being a little defensive tbh, and the “he knows more about racism than you because he’s black” isn’t the slam dunk you might think it is pal.

As you were seemingly claiming he was an idiot who was just booing anti racism I thought it important to higlhight he is black, but also a conservative.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t claim he was an idiot. I suggested he perhaps didn’t understand fully the position of BLM or what defund the police actually means behind the slogan.

I think the idea that slogans like that are just bad marketing and people would warm to defund the police if you just unpacked its multiple polices individually is questionable. Likewise BLM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can question all you like bud. We won’t know unless we actually get to speak to some people who object so strongly to people kneeling against racism to understand what their objections are.

1) Going so far as to say you will stop supporting the team and equating them to a political party you oppose. Meanwhile fans are ok to boo in your eyes.

2) You bring partisanship to your argument when you refer to the national team as Labour FC. You are also clinging to George Floyd/BLM to deflect from the cause of the gesture, racism in the game.

3) Suggest something that would be more agreeable to you. Should they boo instead?

4) I have not smeared you as racist. It’s never been said, implied or even suggested. Please refrain from using this rhetoric to imply I am attacking you personally. For the last time I am not!

The govening bodies in football are all for the taking of the knee,it costs them nothing,a more worthy stance from them would be to inject some money into a fund to seek out the offenders and make a few examples, life bans for starters, taking the knee can go on for ever it wont change a thing its become a meaningless gesture.
