Given the last three pages has been a group of right wingers moralising over the "unreasonable left" I'd say it probably won't because no left wingers will be posting here.

Arabs newsposts were shut down yesterday and I'd say the OP has done a pretty good job of demonstrating why this type of thread doesn't work with a partisan OP, of course he's not deleted/blocked anyone but Arabs right to post current events was challenged and the challenge backed by Renoog.

Renoog went as far as to say I only view it that way because I'm partisan but Black hawk was a centrist chased off by abusive right wingers ffs, tamwolf, Rosso, Dave, myself on two occasions quit until NPE left the site, RITH, and a few other posters... How many righties were insulted off the thread? Cal Neva when I called his post "ridiculous" literally one post.. any others? But sure.. rather than objectively looking at the issue it's my "blinkers"

So what's the point of posting here? If pointing out the Tories are shiiiit and pushing an agenda that punishes the less fortunate is unwelcome then you have just usurped the title of the old thread and created the right wing safe space that was being persued by the continual chasing off of non-right views.

I agree tbab has probably had the most abuse on the thread but I don't agree it was bad when he was the "sole right wing voice" it was because he had a habit of mass posting while drunk, being abusive and offered me out for a fightThat's calmed down now, we can get on, but he's got to own his part for the most part the old thread was pretty harmonious untill a tipping point.

So why the need to create a narrative of people pushing others away or policing the chat?

There's no co-ordinated efforts to do anything, people just post what's on their mind, and as usual when highly-charged topics like politics or religion are being discussed, people don't like having their entire worldview and beliefs sh@t upon. So they get a bit shouty, sweary and unpleasant, and form into little tribes to provide some kind of comfort amongst the hostility. This is not an exclusive right/left divide thing but a general human trait.

This is precisely why we have an anonymous online forum for this kind of stuff, because most people recognise that discussing politics and religion with friends and colleagues wouldn't be possible for the above reasons

There was way too much history being brought up on the other thread.

I get that people spend a fair bit of time on here and as such get to know some of the other posters' quirks, but the whole thing of dredging up comments and arguments from months back was a bit sad IMO, and very catty

Not a fan of the ‘gender equality’ orders personally. Have no issue with people having equal rights but when that means changing the rest of the populace for a minority the I disagree.

Women’s sports is essentially done if biological trans men are now allowed to compete with women. I can’t think of a single sport where biological men aren’t superior to women.

It may not have been coordinated but there was certainly a focussed abuse on people with leftwing views until they left, and an absolute whitewashing of the posters actions by the right.

Admins suggestion for a revived politics thread is therefore a far superior proposition to this one. Although I do hope he's going to also ban people for deliberate provocation..

I've "left" the site voluntarily myself a few times, as in I just got bored and didn't think to post for a few months at a time. Should I have announced it to everyone and created a fuss about it, then kept a running scorecard for a few years? Seems like I've been doing it wrong

If you create the thread, you've got to police it, I'm sure the OP of the original one hadn't realised the beast of the one he created but it appears he cleared of after a time, so it appears there was little censor from what I observed.

What does policing entail? Is it deleting comments? Well there's already a complaint feature and a bunch of site rules, and admins already have a process for dealing with this.

I don't want to do it as a) it's incredibly difficult to be fair about it b) people will whine about censorship if you delete their comments

Why should government foot the bill for unsuitable cladding, or In other words the taxpayer, the contractors who fitted the stuff should be held to account, or do they walk away blameless.
