Charles Moore on R4 saying “no no the refugee policy isn’t racist. It’s just that we like Christians in this country and Muslims should go elsewhere”. wtf

https://twitter.com/john_whitamore/status/1505450727833014272?s=21

FINALLY a prominent Tory admitting we are a racist country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
racism will always exist, as will sexism, ageism, etc....the "us" and "them" mentality is hardwired in humans from millions of years living in small tribes

britain is probably the least racist country you can imagine though. so much has been done to further racial equality, in some ways it's actually to the detriment of the indigneous white anglo population, who are the majority ofcourse in britain

i don't think anyone can complain too much about racism in britain these days to be honest

and remember ....this country belongs to the white anglo population...it was their ancestors that fought for and protected this land

nobody is denying the ukranians the right to to fight for their land...

land and ethnicity go hand in hand...without that, a person and his descendants become disenfranchised.

It's like having passed down family wealth and inheritance....you wouldn't just give that up to strangers from outside your family would you ?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Land and ethnicity go hand in hand…”

Wow, I mean, this is bad even for you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kinda like blood and soil.

"would you willingly hand over the wealth/property and achievements of your family to strangers, at the expense of your children ? yes or no ?"

Well to be honest, it wouldn't make a difference to me if it was going to a 'ethnic' Brit, or an immigrant.

Clearly nobody wants to give themselves and their family lives to a stranger. The outcome is the same regardless of people's ancestory.

There's many people of the same ancestory of myself, who I have nothing much in common with.

Land and ethnicity don't go hand in hand ffs 😂

There's countries everywhere where are some point an "indigenous" population was replaced one way or another

Cheddar Man ffs!

The referendum has consequences - sure.

But going over a twice weekly debate where one side basically calls voters thick and misled is exceedingly dull.

I am not even sure what you are posting such commented for - is it therapeutic?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are consequences but we shouldn't talk about them, that's what you're saying. Cause and effect but shhh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No - I am more than prepared to talk about trade-offs and difficulties from Brexit.

I am not prepared to have a boring myopic conversation with three or four dogmatic remainers about why Brexit happened - and I don't see why we should have to suffer such group therapy sessions of confirmation bias and partisanship.

All Robb did was mention a consequence, the rest of your reply is of your own making.

Biden has a way to go to catch up with Trump:

- Said he would build a border wall “between Colorado and Mexico”

- Blamed the presidents of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania for the break up of Yugoslavia (it’s Baltic, not Balkan, Don)

- Told the Indian PM he should be glad the country doesn’t share a border with China

- Asked why Seoul was so close to the Korean DMZ, and, shocked, told its inhabitants to move

- Repeatedly said that Ireland was part of the UK

- Thought Belgium was “a beautiful city”

- And, of course…

“You know I ask Boris, where’s England? What’s happening with England? They don’t use it too much anymore. We talked about it – it was very interesting.“

Thought England had changed its name to UK

I mean, in some ways, Trump really was the greatest ever. I honestly don’t think we’re going to get another one like him, ever again.
