I don't have a problem. I just don't see how there's space for political debate when part of the ethos is for people to respond to posts with one line insults.

It's up to Pawl whether he wants to continue being an object of ridicule on here or debate amongst people that won't marginalise him for holding mainstream views.

He doesn't hold mainstream views and his only way of contributing to the thread is to attack Starmer and it's been like that for nearly 5 years

He's ridiculed for his obsession with Starmer and his at times very weird comments about female politicians

At least I'm consistent, haha!!

My comments about this hopeless pm and cabinet are nothing in terms of hostility and unpleasantness compared to some of the things I've read about Boris, Sunak, Trump, Farage, Truss.....etc on here.

My views are singled out because this is predominantly a lefty echo chamber.

That said I'm not complaining nobody forces me to comment and although they are generally OTT I can handle the insults.

You're not wrong about it being a bit lefty echo chamber and increasingly anti west and anti establishment

It's up to people to counter balance that, it's definitely not something the OP should look to address

posted on 11/7/25

Either the ethos of the thread is that you attack the view and not the poster or it's not.

If it's not, then it's a members club and not a politics thread.

I don't agree that it's a lefty echo chamber though. If it was I wouldn't have been personally attacked when I'm calling out a past government for their dire privatisation record.

It can't be counter balanced if personal attacks are allowed. And that's your responsibility.

There is not ethos of the thread

My ethos for being OP is to stop admin from having to close it down and to stop one poster from derailing it by making it all about them

Being anti-West (or not liking the west nowadays) and being anti-establishment could also be something those on the right believe.

There we have it.

A lot of people on here (me included) are critical of former Ministers and Prime Ministers who have sailed this country onto the rocks but you are only critical of one person and try and put his shortcomings on a par with the absolute carnage Johnson and Truss wreaked upon the nation.

What people don't appreciate here is political blindness. I'm sure we are all guilty of it to some degree but it's the worst thing about politics and should be called out.

The mental gymnastics certain people (on both sides) go through when it comes to not accepting that their chosen party are in the wrong, or the opposing are in the right, is painful to see. It helps foster division and is exactly what the political/elitist class want from us.

Pawl is that guy to the biggest extreme here (it happens to be in blind favour of the Tories), and he takes the most ridicule because of it - I'd like to hope he'd receive similar ridicule if the delusion was in favour of Labour. And, fair play to Pawl for not backing down and running off to an echo chamber like others would. Hoping he'll grow up and become more balanced in his views as he matures mentally.

EXCL: Starmer insists he still believes in the sentiment behind his “island of strangers” warning - and that Britain must be an “integrated society”.

PM clarifies he does not regret the speech, just that particular phrase because of Powell similarity.

State of this bloke honestly

The politics do indeed get ridiculed on this thread.

However, what deservedly gets even more ridicule are posts from those who believe that they have a superior grip on political discourse, when in fact they’re simply enunciating rabid partisan nonsense deserving of the ridicule they receive.

This.

I think I’ve probably attacked Starmer more fervently on here than Pawl has (if not quite as frequently… ), but I don’t usually see the same kind of responses he does.

I don’t think anyone is scandalised by Pawl’s political ideas; it’s the blinkered double standards which I’ve seen consistently called out.

After reading this there is NO FACKING CHANCE IN HELL that you would get me on a Dreamliner for any reason, and given all else that’s been going on, I would probably start thinking twice about getting on any Boeing.

A colleague at work told me Boeing’s reputation started declining since BAE bought them out, is that true?

Was McDonnell Douglas wasn’t it? That’s when it went down hill. All the stringent quality control got binned, lots of whistleblowers came out, all pride in work gone, people afraid to speak up. Planes being shipped with parts and tools still left inside them
