Hearing Brian Kennedy is to buy kings shares and he wants Clive Woodward as the manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not as daft as it seems.
Clive, despite his illustrious career, always preferred football to rugby. Didn't even start playing rugby until he went to a rugby playing school in his mid teens.
Was a reasonable footballer before then.
His ambition has always been to manage a football club hence his spell at Southampton a few years back.
I know all of this as he was involved with a business I was working with a few years back. Spent quite a bit of time with him, including a week on Barbados on a company trip.
Great guy....think he's a Chelsea fan iirc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Woodward has dined well for years on the back of winning the Rugby World Cup with a very good squad of players, which he did coach well, but that was 14 years ago.
Not so much spoken of is his disaster with the British & Irish Lions in 2005. Total fiasco, and he's been away from coaching since then
Yes he was at Southampton, but as Director of Football, not as a coach. That didn't go so well either, lasted a lot less than a year.
On that basis I'd be delighted if he became Rangers manager.

Andy Murray likes football and has been successful in his sport but I don't think he is in with a shout of any football manager jobs.
Mainly because it's a stupid idea.
From what I recall Clive Woodward's ego got the better of him and thought he could translate what he did with an world class international rugby team into a mediocre football team.

He believes that he skills and principles are transferrable. Motivation, organisation, team-building, getting the right coaches around you.
He might have a point. You have highly paid, relatively successful managers who have never played the game to any level....he's probably better qualified than those guys.
I don't think it would work.
