Fooking shocking defending again!
Yes we've been good before, but we can't expect Carson to make-up for bad defending.
Totally agree Wideboy. Too many draws.
2 points a game is needed over a season to get auto.
92 points. After 34 games 68 points. We are 8 points off that. That's 4 draws too many.
An occasional draw when you play poorly is one thing but to have drawn more than 1/3 of our games is not good enough.
Today .... Olsson was awful, Baird was solid until his stupid red card, and Carson's positioning for their end goal was shocking. He literally have him the best post finish.
Both sides showed how not to defend ....
Going forward we looked ok, 2nd half especially.
But .... and this is the biggest issue... we do not have any pace in midfield. Hudd and Ledley are slow, Thorne is no quicker and BJ likewise. Kelly, their #38, ran us ragged 1st half. We looked tired and jaded through the middle. What I would give to have a Jeff Hendrik in the squad.
We will make the play offs but by tomorrow we could be 7 points behind Cardiff and that would be too many.
Carson could have done better at Wednesday, could have prevented the first Leeds goal and could have stopped two of the Reading goals. He has been brilliant for most of the season but has slipped in form in the last three games. If we win all our remaining games maybe we can snatch an automatic place. Big if.
I agree about our midfield, their lack of pace has been masked by opposition midfielders not wanting to attack them and leave Vydra unmarked. Vydra wasn't there today so there was no problem for them. I thought Ledley looked awful against Leeds but he kept his place.
Our collapse in 2015 was in no small part down to the end of season form of Grant. Carson hasn't made the major bloopers that Grant did at Rotherham, Wolves and Millwall but he has not been a safe pair of hands. This rubs off on the central defenders who become more hesitant. Hopefully Carson will recover his form of before Christmas when he seemed unbeatable at times.
We’ve conceded 7 goals to out of form teams, Wednesday , Leeds and Reading what on Earth are Fulham going to do to us next week.
We'll probably do OK against Fulham, it's the shiite we struggle with, (a bit like the England rugby team).
I’m glad I’m not going into battle alongside you lot. 1st sign it’s starts getting tough and you will all pack in and run.
Way way back in mid sept we got well and truly beat by Bristol City and fans started talking about replacing Rowett, we will never make the play offs etc. Well back then and even back last August if someone had offered me the position Derby are currently in come March 2018 I would have taken it.
Leeds fans are laughing at the quality of our fans from last Wednesday when loads left. We had fans leaving today after 32mins. This is the most negative set of Derby I’ve known. Villa got themselves 2nd and back to 3rd in a matter of days and their fans don’t moan like Derby fans and them and Wolves should be top 2 based on their £££’s.
Cardiff and Fulham have both got to come to Derby yet but listerning to Some Derby fans we’ve already been beaten yet we expect the players to stay positive with all the negativity from the fans. The players have been accused of not having bottle yet the fans don’t seem to have any bottle for a battle when it’s getting tough.
Man up, take it on the chin and move on to the next game and get behind them until the end of the season. I’m hoping for a great atmosphere at Pride Park against Fulham but I know it’s going to be moans and groans and getting on Forsyth’s back.
Midfield abit slow today, no slower than other games. Palmer ran the show until he was taken off and replaced by Johnson and then it did seem a problem. Baird has been great when he’s been in the team but 2 bad mistakes by him today cost us. He’s suspended now and it will give Wisdom a chance to ensure Baird doesn’t play for Derby again and that’s not being negative towards Baird but if Wisdom pulls his finger out and starts performing he will keep his place. Pleased for Lawerance today as I don’t rate him but he had a good game today until he was taken off. He wasn’t too happy either about being taken off. When your on top of your game you want to stay on and you get Theo the tiredness.
Chins up
Sorry Griff, but the whole point of the article is this ISN'T the "first sign things are getting tough".
Griff.
And believe me Carson is well in credit for this season so anyone singling him out needs a head shake.
So Wideboy...but your rant you expected Derby to make Top 2 this season did you?
It's also easy to say that anyone can beat anyone in this league and time and time again it's bring proven so don't be so disingenuous to the teams in trouble, we have no God given right to get out of this league.
It's a pity rants don't win games, our lot would be CL.
This is the problem. Ever since Wembley we have a totally different fan base. The people who moan now are only here to see wins. Simple as that. I don't care how long anybody says they have supported Derby...I have never known such negativity on social media. And that's being 4th!!!! Teams hit blips...Cardiff lost 4 in a row!!! The Derby fans that moan now do not know how to lose...don't understand we cant play well...don't understand the opposition can play well....don't understand how you can dips in form. Rowett has been 1st class this season. 1 defeat in 15 and all we get is negativity.
I said last August GR needs at least 2 summers to sort his squad and get some of the high earners off the wage bill. We are nearly in March and are 4 points off 2nd and is it 7 points inside the play offs. Is there a Derby fan that wouldn’t have taken that last summer
At the start of the season Backo - no I didn't. But having got clear in 2nd I didn't expect us to wimp out either...
... and to hear the wimping out described as a "good run" winds me up something rotten.
Negative things come to those who think negative. Fortune shines on the brave!
Those words have stuck with me for a while. If you think the worse will happen it will do and that’s the problem with some Derby fans. Couldn’t believe how many people left the away end on 30 mind today
Warnock said the fans at Cardiff helped get their team out of a blip after losing 4 out of 4. If Derby lost 4 out of 4 the fans would want the manager sacked
Wise words Griff...
... maybe they apply to the players and staff at the club just as much as the fans in this situation?
Igor/Griff
I don't think this is a knee jerk reaction. It's a reflection of our last 7 games since the new year.
WDDDLDD
8 points from 7 games. Not enough. 2 more wins in there and we have had a respectable 12 points. And be right up there.
Small margins!
There are issues ... they need sorting .... but they aren't terminal.
Carson, for example, needs to look at his positioning for their 2nd. The near post was wide open and he made it too easy for their bloke.
Rowett has just said about our defensive deficiencies and he's right.
His job is to identify them and put them right.
I think we’ve over-achieved for large parts of the season and 2nd place seriously flattered us. Things are just evening-out a little and we’re in a great place for an exciting run-in.
It’s peraonally all I wish for every season, in and around the play-offs. I’m a happy ram and think GR is doing a great job.
Fasten your seatbelts
We have probably over-achieved Baz but that should mean even more to get behind the side in a dip in results. We are still in a fantastic position. Massive game coming up next Saturday. I don't understand the negativity at all.
Some team/s always make a late run, Villa and Fulham are on that at the moment, haven't said that at one stage today we were back up to 2nd the way results were panning out.
We still have to play them along with Cardiff so to be so premature with the rants is just so typical from so called fans
Ffs I'd rather have a dig at them leaving games early rather than a team who have at least lost feck all in distant memory.
A few months ago Sheff Utd and Bristol City where in a lot better position than Derby and look at how far behind us they are now. Their fans aren’t moaning.
Chris Wilder as recently said it’s good how much the fans are behind the players when they are dropping points. You can feel the negativity at derby games in the stand. There was a bloke behind me and my dad today just shouting “boring” over and over again. He left the ground on 35 mins. Sometimes it’s like visiting a special needs convention
Carson got beat at his near post, Lawerance beat the Reading keeper at the far post from pretty much the same position. Which keeper is at fault?
I thought the Reading play was going for the far post tbf and I didn’t think he hit it cleanly which may have helped him.
Griff ... trust me the Bristol City fans are moaning! I can hear them from 30 miles away.
There's a difference between moaning and passing critical comment though.
I was sat right behind our goal for their 2nd and Carson got it wrong. No argument ... I called it before their bloke even shot. Carson left the near post open and made it too easy.
I would never criticise or boo during a game. Doesn't help the cause. But it's perfectly reasonable to pick out issues on a forum like this. We will make the play offs but need to look at certain things... I'm sure Rowett has them in hand!
