1.Ndombele
2.GLC
3.Loldado.

Our worse three signings ever. I used to root for GLC alot but nah he deserves number 2.

Bryan Gil will go down as our Spurs' worst signing ever. There is no debate. A pathetic player.

Wouldn’t even make top 10

I just copied Luka's post about Ndombele. Except because I'm a m00ng I managed to put a typo in it

To be fair though considering the value of Lamela being added into the equation he cost more than Lo Celso and contributed even less

Was he ever given a chance?

Gil might be one of Paratici's worst ever. Though wtf he was doing with Alf Ramsey at Juve I have no idea. Don't think the player is bad at all, just a really bad fit for the league and club

posted on 18/8/22

Obviously the post copying Luka was mainly to get a reaction, but I do find it interesting that the narrative is "He wasn't given a chance" and "good player bad fit" when he cost £30m+, only managed 20 appearances in all comps and zero goals.

Just an interesting contrast in perception compared to Lo Celso and Ndombele who cost more but made the better part of 100 appearances and some (albeit not enough) telling contributions

I put it down to him being really obviously a bad fit and a youth player still, really. Plus while overpaying certainly factors into it his wages must be much lower.. he's certainly not going to wind up costing us nearly as much as Ndombele or Lo Celso.

Older, more established players like Soldado flop cos they're too slow or just not good enough. I think it's fair to say at 21, Gil could still have a great career. Salah was a bad example, maybe, but I think the point is valid. Much less so with those two wasters we can barely find loans for.

Agreed. Gil has time on his side but he is way behind the likes of Kulu for example who is just one year older.

I would put him in the same bracket as someone like Brennan Johnson at Forest and I think that is being a tad generous. Olise is one year younger and more potential too. Anthony Gordon is the same age as him and better too.

Drop Gordon in at Sevilla and is he a better player, though? I'm not sure. Gil's already got senior caps with Spain. Granted they're a bit sheit now but I think he's being underrated here

Both ndombele and GLC were established players with a good reputation where gill was coming here as a young player needing lots of development.

Huge differences

But Ndombele and Lo Celso actually played and contributed a bit.

Gil is just Jack Clarke with a higher price tag. Complete waste of money and looks like he'll never make the first XI.

Gil's a Spain international who came from top level football. Not established by any means but clearly rated a lot higher than Clarke who'd had a few appearances in the Championship.

Of course GLC and Ndombele played more, they were established players with a good reputation.

He's a bad signing yes but not through a lack of ability or a bad attitude. And there's nothing (outside of the economic situation in La Liga) stopping us getting our money back on him. Same with Reguilon

These all just sound like points that back up my argument tbh - ie. these are all reasons why he's a terrible signing, not mitigating factors

Don’t really like calling bad signings when they’re of a certain age, thrown in the fact that he had an injury pretty much off the bat last season. Probably belongs in La Liga ultimately, but disappointed that he never really got settled here and given a fair crack.

posted on 19/8/22

Not to keep banging that drum, but Ndombele was only 22 when he signed and he never got much slack...

posted on 19/8/22

I suppose.

Just feel with Gil, he got an early injury was then hit with Covid, loaned out in Jan performed well for Valencia. Would rather just see him loaned to another prem club where he clearly needs more experience.

Blah blah settles well at a lower mid table club , who’ll pay silly money we say thank you very much.

Well yeah, my point was never that he's a good signing. But you're like 'worst ever' when in reality he's a very good player just not a good fit for us, and definitely not a Conte player. It's about nuance, man.
