Hendo was unfairly slated on here.

You have shown you clearly haven't seen much if Herrera by comments displayed here.
======

Could you expand on this please?

For example do you really think Herrera has a better range of passing and can manipulate and cross a ball better?

I mean looking at the types of assists both have I see no evidence of this whatsoever.

Could you post links or anything?

Herrera is a good player - not great, but good. He was mismanaged and for me should have been in the starting line-up most games. The thing that we will miss about his most is his workrate, desire, leadership and sh!thousery on the pitch. You need a couple of those kind of players in the team and he was about the only one we had.

posted on 10/6/19

I think you need to look at our scoring record under LVG and Jose to see we haven't had many potent finishers in our team, so the assist stats would be heavenly skewed in Liverpool's favour.

Anyway, it was you who said you have never seen him play in different positions. If you had watched him, then you would not have said that.

He is quite good at a lot of things tbf.

Somewhere inbetween Mark Noble and Aaron Ramsey.

What I actually originally said was Henderson was more versatile. Because he is. Admittedly saying not seen Herrera play multiple positions ignored the nuances of midfield roles (of which Henderson has played all the ones you mention).

What I was alluding to was the right wing and right back. So Herrera isnt as versatile and that was the point.

It's all very well saying Herrera played dm. He wasnt very good there was he so it's kinda moot.

---------------------

There is very little between the two players for me.

Herrera's crossing isn't actually that bad - I would say slightly better than Hendo. That said, he hardly ever gets into crossing positions. Hendo throughout his time at LFC has often operated in wider areas. I would also say that Hendo is better at long range passing.

I see them as being very similar players in terms of ability and what they bring to the team. The kind of players that often go under the radar, but who are very valuable to the team.

posted on 10/6/19

Didn't Herrera have stats that compared favourably with Kante the year he played in DM? Obviously, stats don't tell the whole story and very few people would argue he's a superior DM to Kante. But I do think people can be conditioned by their negative preconceptions to miss good performances and valuable contributions. The same applies to the delay in recognising that Henderson has more quality than the hard working clogger he has been seen as for much of his career.

Fair comments Elvis although I do think Henderson can manipulate a ball with that diagonal bend and dip very well indeed.

Henderson would have walked into the United team the last 3 years. Herrera couldn't and didn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Henderson was getting slated by your fans 6 months ago. Has a good end to the season and all of a sudden he is great again. Oh hiw fickle you are
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Was he, by our fans? Never once heard a single bad word said about him at Anfield. Not one. He gets trashed on social media and by one or two on here and now he 's "slated by your fans". Awful post.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I didn't go to Anfield to speak to the locals....nobhead
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then maybe choose the way you word things more carefully. Otherwise you look a nobhead. Don't you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
did I say all your fans? No
However on here there were a fair few who were slating him. Thankfully I hardly know any Liverpool fans in real life.

Fortunately I know plenty of United fans in real life. Their tears this season have been outstanding whilst we waltzed to becoming champions of Europe.

Amazing how a liverpool player is mentioned and ths rats all come scurrying over. Proper victim mentality they have

Indeed he did. He played very well in the DM role the times that he did play it.

Not your player anymore after he was deemed too poor to play for the 15th worst team in the premier league.

Going on their PL stats alone, Herrera has the better crossing accuracy, albeit from a smaller number of crosses.

Honestly Robbing, there isn't anything between them for me. You have seen more of Hendo than me and I have seen more of Herrera than you, so we have probably seen little bits that make us favour our 'own' player. But I don't think that there is much if anything between them.

----------------

A bit simplistic. Jose for some reason decided that Matic was going to do a better job than Herrera in DM, despite the fact that Herrera had just won our player of the year playing in that position. He was then too stubborn to admit his mistake and switch it back. That is why Herrera is leaving.

I would also question why you believe that Herrera didn't play well in the DM role. That is the position that he performed best for us and where most United fans wanted to see him deployed.
