Hard to compare, both are great achievements. I think I would just go with the unbeaten as I think it's only been done once before, and a long time ago.

Sure, but by that logic the domestic treble has never been done before.

Yes the treble probably is better, I was only thinking of doubles. Still, great to go without losing a game.

Going undefeated is a great achievement, but when comparing league title wins you have to consider the points totals, style of play, strength of opposition, performance in other competitions.

For me, Citys achievements last season out does Arsenals unbeaten season

Arsenal's players cheated their way to that 'achievement'. And there run was sandwiched between two defeats by a better team/club

MCFC raised the standard of a team sport. No contest really.

3 trophies is better than 1 ( if the 1 and 1 of the 3 are PL or CL).

Unbeaten is unique in modern English football though, so shouldn't be downplayed.

Sure, although I think unbeaten is a modifier for the title win. Unbeaten on it's own could end up being 38 points and relegation if it was all draws.

Portsmouth, Pires, penalty .
Say no more ....

To me it isn't hard to compare. City's domestic treble is far superior to a league unbeaten season.

It just is.

In my mind there isn't even a debate to be had.

Yeah that is my view. Although interested to hear at what point you might consider the invincible season when compared to say the double, or the league and europa league.

Guessing you lot don't respect any of the United triumphs you lived through then

posted on 14/8/19

the invincibles drew 12.

100 points is way better.
a domestic treble.is way better
a treble with European cup (1999) is way better.
our treble in 1984.. yeah you.guessed it way better.
many double winners... yeah way better.

with respect it's a great achievement for sure but it's imo probably just about top 10.

1999 United drew a lot more. Contradictions are something United fans like making.

posted on 14/8/19

Oh yes, there is a debate to be had, and we're having it. And going unbeaten is a rarity. Doubles aren't, and even trebles happen. Even City, great as they are haven't gone unbeaten.

I would guess because we were involved in three competitions down to the wire. Unlike one.

Sure but they won the best English treble you can win in the process, which kind of balances it.

Trebles are a rarity. Going unbeaten has happened twice. Each individual treble has only happened once.

Also unbeaten ignored thebseason as a whole, where Arsenal lost 6 games. The same as Man City did last season.

posted on 14/8/19

Our treble was better, not because it was my team, but because it was the three main trophies.

...

Not with me. Winning a league going unbeaten is a good achievement. Winning three trophies not including one off cups / shields, including the league is a bigger achievement.

posted on 14/8/19

City’s season much better than Arsenal.

Going unbeaten is not the aim - accumulating as many points as possible is.

posted on 14/8/19

Here is another way of looking at it.

Team A wins the league with 90 points but lose a few games.

Team B is runner up with 88 points but didn't lose any games.

It would be ridiculous to say team B is the better achievement.

Basically what I want to know is how high would you rank winning the PL unbeaten when compared to winning it with at least one other major trophy?

---

1. Winning league and CL
2. Winning league and Europa
3. Winning league and FA Cup
4. Winning league unbeaten
5. Winning league and league cup

Only because no-one really puts their first team into the league cup these days until at least the quarter finals .
