Athletics.

-------

hard to say because all the events are so different.

maybe Bolt.. but he only did track. the greatest athletes are probably the decathletes / multi event ones who are truly all round athletes.

At best, you can try to decide who was the best, in various positions, during various generations.

Gotta say though, right now Steve Smith is miles ahead of everyone else in Cricket. Maybe not GOAT but deserves a standing ovation for putting the pommms to the sword

so many top cricketers. my personal fave is Lara. when he was on form possibly the best batsman to watch ever... apart from maybe chris gayle - but that is just for sixes, rather than technique

Can I add that I also believe Nicklaus ids the greatest golf player ever.

18 major wins and 19 2nd places at majors.

A top 2 finish in 37 majors

I’d go with Greg Norman simply because he’s Australian 😹

Nicklaus hands down for Golf. Tiger would have been only one to get close, not for his injuries.

Still could catch him mate he only needs 3 more to equal although its a toss of a coin as to how long his body will hold up.

Football : Pele, the only one the undisputed king of football for me, despite being many years ago and the snow flakes thinking no great players before Messi or Ronaldo

Tennis: John McEnroe was one to watch - magician but right now Federer is the ultimate genius.

Cricket: If you like someone to hit few sixes in any format, then Ben Stokes is as good as any. If you want a genius of the game then MS Dhoni is a master tactician along with Allan Border.

Athletics: Michael Johnson - simply. Again the snow flakes won't remember him but even Bolt reveres him and that says a lot
