All domestic sporting activity at all levels in Italy has been suspended until 3 April at the earliest, the Italian national Olympic committee (CONI) has announced.

This includes all matches in Serie A, Italy’s highest football division, but CONI does not speak for Italian clubs or national teams competing in international competitions such as the Champions League. All last weekend’s Serie A matches were played behind closed doors. Uefa has announced that both legs of Roma’s Europa League tie against Sevilla will be played without spectators.
I thought they’d suspended Scottish football for the best part of a decade
The whole of Italy is in lockdown now.
Italy have a large number of cases and confirmed deaths, 9,000 & 463 at last count. This is well above anything reported here. Unless there's an outbreak our authorities will cancel nothing. Greed is a great motivator
Last I read today the UK is at 321 confirmed positive tests and 5 deaths, exactly 2 weeks ago Italy also had 321 confirmed cases.
Now they have 9172 confirmed and 463 deaths
Perhaps a little flash forward of what's to come?
This should be extremely worrying for anyone with elderly parents or people we know who have underlying health issues, which is all of us tbh.
Keep washing your hands seems to be the only advice.
I dont see any of the leagues being finished this year. They'll have to just award the trophies as they stand. No treble for us
Yeah, because that's what is really important
There isn't this panic over the flu which kills more.
If the league was suspended it would cause massive financial difficulties for a number of clubs. Cash flow is already tight with a few clubs.
What might help them is that many clubs will start selling early bird season tickets so that might get some money in the biscuit tin, but any planning for next season would be severely impacted.
Playing games behind closed doors would be devastating for clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if a few clubs fell into administration if that happened.

Good point timmy. We shouldn't bother listening to experts and scientists because someone who pretends to be a man and/or woman on a football forum says it's an overreaction.

Ivan,
thats 100% it, clubs have indicated that they would go out of business if the rest of the season was played behind closed doors
they might limit the attendance to 1000 maybe a bit like they may do in France

In saying that, I hope to go to the US in August, so praying that it`s all over by then.
Cancel the euros and finish the leagues in the summer. Only logical choice.

If we go into lockdown I just don't see that happening until we have a "delay" phase first which could happen at any time soon.
At that point I'd imagine they will still allow games to be played in front of spectators for the first week or so before succumbing to them being played behind closed doors.
That will take us until the split which leaves 5 games in 4-5 weeks with the cup semi finals and final in between.
Celtic will have won the league after first game in so there's no need for any bears to build their hopes up.
They've enough to contend with.

The message from England's deputy CMO seems like all is well:
Dr Harries said the vast majority of those diagnosed with coronavirus in Britain are "pretty well" but that they may "feel a bit rough for a few days".
She added: "Within 10-14 days we will be likely to advise people with symptoms to self-isolate and we are expecting that start of the peak [of coronavirus cases] to come during that period."
Dr Harries said cancelling big outdoor events like football matches would not necessarily be a decision supported by science.
"The virus will not survive very long outside," she said. "Many outdoor events, particularly, are relatively safe."
So 50k+ folk within close proximity to each other for a couple of hours is fine? I thought if you were to sit next to someone with the virus for more than 15 minutes you run the risk of infection.
Oh well. All is groovy. Carry on...
Best and fairest way is a winner takes all final between the top 2, winner gets the league and SC.
Sorted.
