Been to see Frankie Boyle live three times and almost died laughing each time. He’s number one for me.

I’d add Hicks, Pryor, Stewart Lee, Jack Dee and Anthony Jeselnik to my list of faves.

Anthony Jeselnik is my fave current comedian- saw him live a couple of years ago in London. Brilliant.

For those who don’t know him, here he is destroying Donald Trump in person...

Brutal but amazing.

He’s got a couple of amazing specials on Netflix. Check them out - he’s even more brutal than Frankie Boyle at times 😂

The one about Snoop Dogg was the best.

I think Pryor and Chappelle makes most top 5.

Eddie Griffith often gets underrated and don't forget Katt Williams was untouchable for a while.

Yeah; he’s the closest thing to Boyle to come out of North America.

What’s amazing is he’s actually got more brutal over time

not a big fan of black or asian standups to be honest... their whole schtick is basically based on racism and to be honest that only goes so far before it becomes boring and predictable

There is one guy who is not a comedian per se but a modern day Socrates who philosophises in a comedic manner. He has a whole floor to himself in the pantheon of comedy; George Carlin.

Below him and ringing the door bell to gain access, Richard Pryor.
Then we have Bill Hicks, Billy Connolly and a recent addition to my top list; Ricky Gervais.

are three I place in the Holy Trinity

Jimmy Carr doesnt even write his own jokes.

Frankie Boyle made him famous by writing for him.

Jimeoin cracks me up.

Thought Stephen merchant was a very good stand up when he does it. He’s only done 1 tour since he was famous . Hopefully he does it again at some point, but he’s said before he doesn’t like doing stand up

Micky Flanagan
Lee Evans
Michael McIntyre

With the exception of Rich Hall I really struggle to find American comedians funny.

Haven't paid much attention to stand ups recently but I used to find Lee Evans, Bill Bailey, Ross Noble and Jack Dee funny. Don't think they are as funny as they were anymore and I don't know whether that's me growing older and more cynical to it, or them just being less funny these days.

the great thing about comedy is theres a style for every viewer/listener.

If you like peopel who act dour or the world is faliing in Jack dee, or rich hall or whoever.

If you like a sweaty clown there's lee evans.

If you like racists theres frankie bolye.

If you like people who skip theres michael mcintyre.

If you like cheap hookers there's amy schumer.

ou can take or leave as you like. A lot so get old quick

What I personally like is someone who can tell a story and almost accidentally deliver the punch line 5 mins later and had you laughing all through.

You wouldn't think it from some of his material but Frankie is pretty left-wing.

Milton Jones really appeals to me, as he seems to be able to see something funny in just about the most mundane things.

Ben Elton was actually quite good in the 80s

Alexei Sayle for aggresive humour

Dave Allen, as previously mentioned, very funny monologues.

For more silliness, Dikk Emery, ooh, you are awful...

...but I like you!

Frankie boyle sued the mirror over it and won but that was then and this is now. even 10 years on you couldn't get away with what he calls satire.

However he is as funny as F.

His brand of humour is to single someone out and shred them personally so again that kind of humour we all laugh at when it's not us.

we all get the mental health discussion now i suppose so singling out katie prices son for example to have a dig at her while it was funny at time time (and we all laughed) now doesn't look so clever or the susan boyle stuff.

You have to wonder if this brand of comedy is going to go the same way as bernard manning?

A lot of new comediens focus on ripping on themselves, and in fact as someone above mentioned the newer stand ups from an asian backgorund or whatever colour or even female often go after themselves and almost make a joke of white peopel laugh at thier jokes which is kind of odd.
