Willian on a free?

Salary wise even at 31 he won't be cheap but he could be your Milner?

I won't have minded him at Liverpool because it's clear we are not going to spend and he is still a decent backup to Mane/Salah.

No thanks, I want us to get Sancho this summer.

Can’t say I’ve watched much of Chelsea even before the break post Covid-19, so really don’t know how often he’s played for them, or how he’s performed when he’s played.
This rumour seems to have come up every year for the past fee years though.
I’d rather not go for him as a stop gap as no doubt his wages would be high, and I feel the money could be better spent. That’s my uninformed opinion.

We'd all like that Matth, but if we don't get him, Willian might be a short term option.

I’d take that if Sancho doesn’t happen. Why are we always linked with Willian? Every window he gets linked with a move to us.

I'd prefer Gaitan to be honest though.

Also I wouldn’t want a long contract at all. 1 year plus an option or something

I'd rather get someone younger like Ryan Fraser.

I don't trust Ed Woodward when it comes to transfers.

Be a good signing imo.

Versatile, can play different systems and quite good at a lot of things. He's also vastly experienced and a top pro and would be a good plus in Utds young dressing room. I reckon he's got three years left in him easy and I can't see Mata and Matic, even Pogba, being around that long.

I agree, but I doubt he'll go for that, this is his last chance of a big contract.

From what little I have seen he's had a good season, and could probably do a decent job for a year or two, so I fully expect us to offer him a 5 year contract at £300k a week, and then ship him off the MLS on heavily subsidised wages in 2022.

Apparently rejected a two year deal from us
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He can do one then imo. Don’t want a 3+ year deal for something that might not work for us

Mourinho isn’t our manager anymore. Would be a poor signing.

there have been reports of us being linked with Leon Bailey if Sancho doesnt come this summer, which i think would be the better option.

yes there would be an outlay of a reported 40 million, but as said above this would be willians last big pay deal, and a free transfer would mean a pretty high wage.

would rather the younger option who could give us a bit of longevity and would have a resale value if needed

Why would we want a younger player if Sancho is at worst, one summer away?

posted on 17/6/20

If we were 100% confident of getting Sancho next summer I’d just go with Greenwood/James on the right for a year.

because the club will know more than you and me in ragrds to the liklihood of sancho joining... lets not forget noone other than the papers has mentioned Sancho and Utd as a possible destination.

and the younger option was in regards to Willian not sancho

But even if we were to get sancho next summer, who would be his back-up? greenwood will presumably be an established striker by then, james should really be rashford's cover on the left, after that we're down to lingard/perreira/mata, all of whom should have been booted out of the club by then.

so i think we do need a younger player for the right in addition to sancho (i know, i'm greedy), but whether bailey is the right guy, or £40m is the going rate for a squad option, no idea.
