Whilst I tend to agree that Brexit was the key basis for the election win, Corbyn was as much responsible for putting the Tories into power as Boris was.

Diabolical party leadership and should have gone a long time before.

But yes, this government are a shambles. A bunch of charlatans who thought they'd have it easy and then COVID-19 showed up to really highlight their incompetence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I struggle to see many countries who have handled this virus as well as they proclaim. Many have made atrocious errors.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a lot of sympathy for those dealing with the virus - a lot of it is unknown and we're learning more every month.

But, there have been some fundamental failings and what really irritates me is that they just can't admit it.

Even the Cummings incident.. they chose to just lie and lie and wait for it to go away.

It's just totally unacceptable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The recent litigation via the Good Law Project on PPE procurement, suggests not just incompetence on the part of the government but criminality.

Scotland would have 10% of the gold reserves for starters. Maybe sold the rest of the uk their 10% of the falklands, some antiques from the Paris embassy, the munitions from coulport......

I would genuinely like all Tory voters to stand outside on Thursday evening and say "Sorry" for one minute.

And still couldn’t afford it, never mind the payback. Private industry will bear the brunt of casualties as it always does.

Meanwhile the public bodies just demand more.

How does that all work seeing as Scotland has a very high percentage of low paid and government funded employment?

What would Stuart Pearce do? Ireland-Kenya Relations Secretary (U3126)

Spot on.

There are posts above about the number of deaths and issues with PPE... these are far more debatable and in truth, we won't be able to properly assess the government's handling of these until further in the future.

In some ways it is the way that the NHS is run that has contributed to these issues and whilst I'm certainly not advocating privitisation, it is true that in some countries where they do not have these limitations, it has been easier to adapt to the situation for the good of everyone.

But, aside from those points, there are some massive questions to answer - some around incompetence and some around criminality, as you say. But we seem to be living in a world now where these people can do whatever they want and if they just hold firm for long enough, the issue goes away.

If Scotland is such a drain on Westminster and the UK then why is there such a clamour to stay a union? If Brexit was borne out of not giving money to other countries then why not the same with Scotland?

Is it because Scotland is not a hindrance to the UK (nor is it a cash cow), it simply has the capability to run it's own country with the same wealth as England (proportionately)

No surprise there, what does surprise me is they went ahead and did it after seeing how badly the Scottish results went down

Agree with the sentiment on here. Appalling government and unfortunately labour offered an appaling alternative last election.

It reminded me of that south park episode where you could vote for a tuurd sandwich and a giant douche. Both options were unelectable.

However, given the Tories are still ahead in the polls I think we have to accept the average person in this country is a pleb.
