Moonshot Moonhowlers

Moonshot translates as, let's throw another 100 billion, close to the entire budget of the NHS, into the pockets of Deloitte, and Serco executives pockets.😉

It's just a distraction to give people hope when they have nothing of sunstance.

The track and trace app, the antibody testing... they just love over promising and will inevitably under deliver, but it buys them a few months.

Thats pretty much been their approach throughout this pandemic.
They were also able to role Sunak out now and again, with his 'giveaways', but he won't be delivering more than hes collecting from here on in.

Not everything has been bad - I think the furlough scheme was good and it was remarkable how quickly it has been set up.

I also think there are challenges that no government in the world would be able to cope with - unprecented situations that inevitably require a bit of 'learn as you go'.

But unquestionably that has been made worse by incompetent ministers who are only in their position because they'll do what Boris says on Brexit - they don't have any real credentials.

The thing that irritates me most, aside from the incompetence though, is the lack of honesty.

Honesty about the fact they don't know the answers, honesty about plans for the next three months, honesty about their own failings.

I fully expect that Chris Grayling will be announced as minister in charge of reclaiming the 3.5 billion that was wrongly/fraudulently paid out during furlough.🙂

There is something very seriously wrong here.
This government that has publicly announced it intends to break international law and if it does there will be massive national and international negative repercussions to such a ill-judged, ill-timed move.
But in an attempt to distract from its ongoing failures it 'launches' a preposterous proposal 'Operation Moonshot' with an initial 'estimated' cost £100 billion

This is more moonbeams that moonshot and comes direct from a cretin who tries to bluster his way through every event and whose track record is one of utter failure, mixed-messages and wrong messages whose only defence is to try to deflect from that attempting to pull another rabbit (or dead cat) from the hat.

That this inconsistent, egotistical buffoon is our Prime Minister is a disgrace.

'This government that has publicly announced it intends to break international law and if it does there will be massive national and international negative repercussions to such a ill-judged, ill-timed move.'

Does anyone really think that there will be any real or long lasting repercussions from this? Genuinely?

I get that they are breaking international law, but what do we expect to come of that?

As far as damaging our reputation and all the other similar possible outcomes - I doubt that there will be any long lasting effects of this. All Governments lie. All politicians lie. At best, they manipulate the truth. It would be a bit hypocritical of another Government to say to another Government that they lied about their intentions.

The worst case scenario for Boris is that he can use it to show that Johnny Foreigner doesn't like the British, and further his jingoistic approach.

Another day - another political thread. Another chance to bash Boris as well.

What I'd give for a thread about how much Morelos is worth...

This makes Labour’s proposed spending plans look quite achievable.

Seriously disilusioned with both governments right now.

The UK government have become an absolute parody. Johnson and Hancock are absolute @rse ferrets and the scary thing is there are people who believe they've done well.

On the flip side, you have idiots up here who are thanking Sturgeon for keeping them safe when she's been complicit in the care home shambles, social classing people as per the normal SNP way and ultimately being an absolute wee scare mongering witch the past few weeks.

I'm fed up with the lot of them but it wouldn't surprise me to see both parties still in full control of both sides in 1 years time which is absolutely frightening.

As long as support for independence is growing the SNP will remain the main party in Scotland.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't even think about independence just now, the recession over the next 18 months mean independence would be an absolute tragedy.

Nancy Pelosi has stated that there will be no trade deal with Britain if they put the GFA in any jeopardy.

Aside from the UK's already shaky reputation in trade circles, the internal market bill (if it becomes law) would violate a binding international treaty (lodged with the UN).

It would also wholly undermine the NI Protocol thus moving some customs and regulatory control mechanisms, from the Irish sea, to the north/south land border.

The implications of which will not be lost on anyone who has followed Irish history.

The IMB also has the potential to breach WTO (most favoured nation) non-discriminatory law, which could see the UK being bogged down in trade disputes with other WTO nations, as well as the EU27/Efta states.

Well experts are now getting very worried that there could be massive social unrest, rioting and fighting in the streets on a scale never seen before if we regress into a full on lockdown again.

Carnage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as i'm against any lockdown of any sort, that's nonsense.

There will just be greater numbers than before not adhering to the rules but it's hardly going to be Detroit on crack mate.
