So far, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has ruled out extending the furlough scheme. And Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said furlough is ''keeping workers in suspended animation''.
I think this funding is keeping people alive personally. This epidemic has put serious restrictions on our civil liberties which has destroyed many industries in the process. Football included. Sport should not be the be-all and end-all. But as a gauge, the success of a local club can identify the level of community spirit and wellbeing. This is more important now than ever.
There have been calls for extensions to furlough for sectors like hospitality, where 900,000 workers are still on furlough. New restrictions have increased fears that jobs are now at risk.

done that bad boy at the start of lockdown.
I think the draw of the larger clubs and their success makes it difficult for any provincial club to survive without relying on player sales year after year. And in the current climate, it’s impossible.
What is a small football club expected to do to survive if funding is suspended and restrictions on fan attendance are not lifted?
I can’t see the loyalty remaining and fans continuing to buy season tickets if job cuts continue as they have. All revenue streams are due to dry up and local clubs will start to fall.

It's certainly of questionable moral decency, at the very least i'd seek to be sensitive and mindful to the other members of the site and the potential for either them or close family members being vulnerable to this virus. We don't need 4 leagues?
How arrogant for a fan of a big club to say that.
Tell that to the communities for whom their club is the centre piece.
Maybe you're happy sitting on your backside watching Sky and eating crisps but some people actually go to support their local team every week, their children use the facilities during the week and the club is actively involved in schools and the community.
But fack it, let's let them die because the Premier League is okay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm talking about Scotland btw.
We absolutely don't need 4 leagues, attempts to restructure are hamstrung by the smaller clubs.
These clubs can still be key in their communities in an amateur set up much the same way highland league clubs are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I agree. We are not saying get rid of clubs and destroy communities, and it's Scotland we are talking about here.
I think combining the 4 x leagues into two and having 2 x leagues of 20 teams or so would be better. No split after 33 games. And teams only playing each other twice a season.
My club or your granny?
Well...what does she look like?
It’s relevant to note, if we all supported our local club this would be less of an issue today. I know, I know, you’ve always been a Celtic supporter, or Rangers supporter, or ManU supporter, or whatever.
But our lower leagues are at risk. And these clubs play a big role in small communities.
How many on here have paid a charity £20 a month out of good will, or dare I say it, pity?
Many smaller clubs in lower leagues have season tickets priced much more reasonably than the Glasgow giants. Is it time to do your bit for your local team and buy a season book? I’m not advocating changing colours or loyalties, just showing a little compassion and helping these teams in their current predicament?

Two top divisions of 16 with a split in the premiership at least so we keep 4 OF games.
