Bonkers. Fair play Villa, Watkins, Barkley, Martinez all good additions and like Everton they've blended in quickly.

This the most ridiculous, crazy, bonkers start to a premier league season ever.
I thought losing 4-0 to West Ham was bad but Leicester 5 Man City 2, Spurs 6 Man U 1, Villa 7 Liverpool 2? WTF?

Obviously all a knock on of the weird preparations and no fans. Some players a little slack with no crowd pressure, some thriving with no crowd pressure etc. Home advantage is out the window as well.

Well with the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri I sincerely hope no-one complains that the club haven't done enough in the transfer window.
2 right wing backs
2 left wing backs
1 striker
1 attacking mid fielder
Nuno must think all his birthdays have come at once.

Rumoured to be one more tomorrow as well. Not bad business overall but would like to see a little more experience.

Absolutely bizarre result just like their first defeat of last season when Watford beat them 3-0. They went on to also lose 4-0 to Man City last season and it does seem on the rare occasions they lose they make a good job of it

More signings than we could have envisaged and some exciting young players that hopefully will become better under this management team. Be interesting to see who ends up as the first choices during the season. And already one possible surprise as Kilman may end up as a key defender.
We’ll be a decent team again once the season has settled down

Interesting after all the doom and gloom about our defence last week that today’s result means Wolves have now had more clean sheets than any team in the Premier League in 2020

Also today’s win means Wolves are only the 4th team to reach 2,000 wins in the 4 divisions of the football league

A good window yes but a bit ironic that we've had to play players out of position today. I'd still like to see us add some experienced back up for Raul, but would be surprised if we do sign anyone else.

posted on 4/10/20

Still think we needed a midfielder and a centre back. Those were the two positions I wanted us to improve before the window and I do not think we have strengthened there.

Vitinha may come off, but he seems a bit of a gamble on potential, rather than strengthening us.

Ultimately, we have bought players to strengthen the wing back positions; which before the window not many people would have had at the top if their list.

Can see that perspective. We would have started with Doc and Jonny but now have four new options for those positions, two of which are raw and one injury plagued.

If we add say Palinha tomorrow things will look much more solid but we had better hope Jimenez doesn't get injured.

I really hope Ait Nouri is going to be the LWB starter at least until pushed by Jonny or else I don't really see how we aimed to improve the position. Marcal is nice cover but not a long term option and we have an option to buy Ait Nouri so need to find out if he is worth the fee.

We only had to play Saiss out of position today and that was because Marcal was injured and Ait Nouri didn’t sign until after the game

Transfer deadline day today, will there be further deals for Wolves? Pepe of Brazilian club Gremio still rumoured in the media, and Ryan Bennett to Fulham. Deadline is 5pm

posted on 5/10/20

Deadline is 11 pm Spangles. The 5 pm deadline is for the domestic window which is open until 5 pm on October 16th

I just read that gem. Gives us a few more hours to get in a Brazilian superstar

One thing that would give me a headache were I Nuno or Jeff today is Moutinho - quickly get over his blip and Neves, Moutinho, Vitinha, Dendoncker and Saiss feels like a decent set of starters and backups for those middle three, but if Moutinho doesn't get back near the heights of last season then we're down our best midfielder and look a lot weaker at the starter end of that list.

posted on 5/10/20

I still think we are missing something in that midfield. Vitinha is still unproven too.

Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker and Saiss are all too similar in that they want to play from deep. I think we have been crying out for someone who can link the play between them and our forwards for a few seasons now.

I do have concerns about Moutinho. I think there were signs in the latter part of last season that we may be seeing the beginning of the end of him as a top midfield player. He has always been very mobile and that’s a key part of his game and if the legs are starting to act like someone in their mid thirties then that will take a lot away from his game. Don’t think the time has come to put him on the scrapheap but I don’t see him as a regular anymore. Dendoncker gives us more.

I don’t think Saiss is a good enough midfielder to help us at this level and I still see him as part of the defensive squad.

So unless Vitanha can come through quickly we could be short there. He does look like the type of midfielder we need as he seems mobile and attack minded. But will he reach the level we need in weeks, months or years? I’d like to think with him and Silva it won’t be too long, just as it hasn’t been with Neto

We all hoped MGW would be that player.

Also wouldn’t be dismissive of Shabani. Saw him play for the U23s a couple of weeks ago and even though it was one of his first games back from a long injury he controlled the midfield and looked to be a good creative midfielder in the making

MGW has been getting rave reviews at Swansea. That won’t help us this season but does show he’s not a player we should give up on
