Yeah, I watched MGW play in one of their televised games the other week. He looked good. He probably should have gone on loan last season. Players at his age need to be playing every week.
It'll be interesting to see where Ait Nouri plays. Played as a traditional LB for his old club in a back four. So will he slot in where Kilman played or as another left sided wing back?
Moutinho's decline probably accelerated by Nuno playing him week in week out in a 59 game season due to us having few options.
Ait Nouri will be wing back 100% if he plays
Don’t think there’s any doubt that Ait Nouri will play as a wing back and in the long term will provide cover and competition for Jonny, as a straight replacement for Vinagre.
Marcal when fit could play in that position in the short term but first impressions were that he looked more like a defender and more likely to be in competition with Saiss, and now Kilman

Might play left back in a back four.
Timmy reckons we are done and last business is trying to get Burr(Volendam), Bennett and Miranda out
He said we were done the other day though and then we signed Ait-Nouri.
I'd be slightly disappointed if we are done. I don't think we have done anything to strengthen our midfield or back three, which I saw as the positions that most needed it going into the window.
I don’t see any further additions to the back three really. As well as Boly, Coady and Saiss we now have Kilman, Marcal and Hoever. Only issue really is who covers for Coady. Marques plays that role for the U23s and is well rated. Whether Marcal or Hoever could play that role time will tell
Yeah despite the activity we seem to be light in key areas. If we lose Jimenez we are relying on an 18 year old with barely any games under his belt as well.
Central midfield is still pretty pedestrian and we still have a defence that isn't as it should be with Boly playing in his weaker position and Saiss intended as a short term option.
I just don't see Kilman getting games if Ait Nouri does. Nuno is too cautious to play with a left side of defence with 25 career games between them.
Big issue for midfield and for cover or support for Jimenez is how quickly Nuno believes Silva and Vitanha will become Premier League ready.
If we do sign anyone else today I suspect it will be an attacking midfielder or striker

I think the problem is that I don't really see Marcal, Kilman or Hoever improving the back three much from what we have now in the short term. Hoever may in time, but also may end up as a wing back. Marcal is a left back who can fill in there.
I find it quite frustrating that we haven't really strengthened that position with a ready player since we got promoted (although there was an attempt with Vallejo).
I would prioritise a midfielder though, if we were making a signing today.
I always feel our midfield is missing an attacking player. We are ultra defensive there and there is no one to thrust forward in attack. It means there is always a gap between front and back.
When are we going to pass the free kicks on goal to someone else. Neves has not scored for ages and he rarely troubles the keeper. It's time for someone else to have a go, Neto perhaps ?
Yeah for whatever reason Neves doesn't have that eye for a goal much anymore it seems. I think Neto as well should be given a few more dead balls
Neto is a good shout for free kicks. He is already on corners and has a great left foot.
It would be good to see him and Neves over free kicks to be honest, as it creates two different angles for each one.
So we seem to have addressed the lack of depth in wide areas, but the spine is still lacking in terms of options. Provided Coady, Neves, Dendoncker and Jimenez stay fit and fresh we're ok, if not we're having to shuffle the pack again.
I hope MGW will grow from the experience at Swansea and come back full of confidence and determined to fulfill his promise. He's got the tools to be a top player, just needs to do more of the good stuff more often. Bit like Vinagre really.
Although all the indications are that there will be no signings today (not stopping guys on mol mix checking flight trackers mind), I do wonder if there might be a move in to the domestic market over the next week. Having said that if there was interest in likes of King or Benrahma then it would have happened by now. If they were really interested in signing any championship players I think they would have got the deals done by now.
BBC shook me for a moment with: "Man Utd close to Cavani deal & in talks for winger Traore", then realised it was some lesser Traore
If a is now done I think our first eleven will be
.................. Patricio
...........Boly, Coady, Saiss
Semedo, Neves, Donk, Ait-Nouri
......Podence, Jimenez ,Neto
Can't say that looks any stronger than last season to be honest, marginally maybe. The real change is the options from the bench, going from a working squad of around 15 to around 18-19 now.
Fella on Molmix still insistent that Palinha is coming though his reliability has been poor at best though he was adamant we were getting Ait Nouri for a few weeks.

He has been adamant about Palhinha all window, repeatedly pushing back the date he will sign. It would be good if it does come off, but it comes across as if he is trying to save face.

Yeah not putting too much faith in it but Palinha did have Covid which would have slowed things down.
I think we are done personally. Bennett will leave later during the extended domestic window and no idea with Miranda, basically retired it feels like.
