What's the inbetween?

I don’t know if you are purposely being stupid or really are this stupid but have you ever heard of rotation?

Eddie has played 91 minutes in the PL this season.
Even when he started he didn't play a full hour.

But he started in the Carabao Cup...

posted on 14/10/20

Since the winter transfer window closed Lacazette has started 14 games under Arteta and Nketiah started 11. And he would have started a lot more if not getting a 3 game ban.

It’s hilarious to suggest someone with equal playing time to the player he is competing with is a back up.

You always descend into insult when exposed <laughed>

Yes I've heard of rotation

But as you are aware, in a rotational system you usually still have a first choice which Eddie isn't currently

I think you know that

Worried this would come down to semantics on what DJ/Batmoan would define back up

Surprised the questions marks in their posts aren’t throwing you off <shrugs>

£50m Lacazette is clearly still our 'first choice' striker - though most would prefer Auba to be instead.

The main reason Nketiah has got as much playing time is because Laca's fitness is pretty bad. The 60 minute man (if that).

If you think about it, it's really lacazettes fault. If he wasn't so shiiiiiiiit, we wouldn't have to rely so much on young master Eddie.

Having said that, Eddie will keep scoring goals, and hopefully goes to a good club for big money.

Well you've come in here with your usual grace trying derail a celebration article with your negative agenda

Eddie's goals to appearances tell a different story to his goal to minutes but you want to make the article all about you and what DJ meant by back up

posted on 14/10/20

What negative agenda?

So to say Nketiah is not a back up is being construed as a negative?

Strange to start at the end of the transfer window rather than when Eddie came back.
Laca has also started 16 times not 14, which goes up to 20 with the games you excluded, despite Eddie being available, for some reason.

Of those games Eddie started, 2 were in the FA Cup early rounds whereas Laca started in the big games including the final.
Another 2 were EFL cup early rounds.

Laca clearly has fatigue issues, and towards the end of the season Arteta clearly decided he needed to rest him and play the back up in some games. The start of this season saw Laca start 3 of the 4 PL games. The figures tell the story.

When Eddie and Laca have both been available for selection, each have started 11 games.

So suggesting either players are back ups is simply a false comment, which is all I was pointing out.

As Tu Meke said, Auba should be the one playing central anyway. And Laca/Eddie can battle for whoever is less average enough to sit on the bench

What's the inbetween?

I have. It's when you "rotate" or share the gametime between your traditionally "first choice" player and his/her "backup"

In this sytem, it's entirely possible that your backup player can see more gametime than the corresponding first choice player. Especially early in the season or during times of fixture congestion. Since the main reason for doing it, is to reduce the gametime of primarily your first choice player.

Laca is the first choice, Eddie is the backup. Regardless what minutes played recently say.

Well Arteta was actively looking to loan Eddie out when he came back so it’s not strange to start from when the transfer window closed and when he started playing regularly is it

When you know he's blatantly a kid, who's being brought on with gametime to improve and become a future first choice if possible...

Yeah it's very strange. Some would even say just plain silly.

Impressive record. He’s not looked very impressive at senior level yet, though.
