I like it, he looked quality at Fulham , not been able to break into Middlesbrough side. Still a Man City player so they may consider it a better option.

Apart from Mengi it looks like we are back in the days of Nigel Clough. Mind you he did build a team capable of challenging for promotion before they sacked him.

And found rough gems like Russell, Bryson, Bradford (I'd add Coutts to that list too)

This is now the type of job Rooney needs to carry out. Find rough gems in the lower league and send his brother to scout in Scotland.

I doubt we will sell Lawrence today. He's injured for starters but he's also our most creative player (when his heads in the right place)

I'm not so sure he's injured. I think Rooney may have kept him out the side to see if we could get interest in the player. Totally agree regards creativity but if he's not able to contribute by tracking back and getting suspended then you may consider looking to sell your asset if it supports the team overall.

BBC Sport indicating we're in for Patrick Roberts now. I've wanted this signing since late 2014 when he was 17-18 playing for Fulham

Delighted we've got Roberts. I remember when we played Fulham off the park in the 5-1 win way back in 2014, watching P Roberts as a 17 year old there was something about him both I and my footballing buddy really liked.

Poor decision by him to join Man City next , his loan at Celtic worked out well but it hasn't there after. There's been injuries and given Colin's defensive set up at Boro' it may have stifled Roberts. He's a quality player and if we can unlock his potential during second half of the season we'll be in for a treat.

Edmundson and Mengi centre half cover or for when Rooney wants a back three.

Baningime covers Bielik’s position. We are much weaker there without Bielik but with Baningime, Shinnie, Bird and Knight there is plenty of energy.

Roberts a bench option or will he start? He and Jozwiak would give us a better balance on the flanks than playing Knight or Waghorn there. Maybe he competes with Lawrence for one spot.

Gregory to keep Kazim fresh. I wonder if Niasse might still be possible outside the window as a free agent or is that just greedy?

Initially you would think Knight drops into the midfield three with one of Waghorn, Roberts or Lawrence coming in. Surely can’t drop Wisdom with the defence doing so well.
