There was a time when the match previews were more interesting and entertaining than the match threads.

Now, they are more interesting than the matches!

Be an important factor to see if Grealish is fit for this game. If he had been missing for three quarters of the season like Raul then I’m sure they would be below us in the table

I hope Boly is fit to play and of course that would release Dendonker back to his best position. But who steps down if we go for a 3-4-3 (which I hope we do). Moutinho would be my guess. Plus give young Siva another start, rather than the player we got on loan. The more game time he gets, hopefully the better he gets and maybe sneak a goal to boost his confidence.

Boly is our best defender and I think it’s easy to see from the top of the league how important a good central defender is. Liverpool are so much weaker without Van Dijk and City are so much stronger with Dias. I think that as much as anything has been a major factor in the destination of the title

And I would certainly play Silva as first choice. He has offered far more than Jose in recent games and it was telling that it was Fabio we called on last night from the bench

Don't agree that Fabio has done any better than Jose, in fact I think he looks naive at the moment. For me better to start with Jose then bring Fabio on later.
IMO.

I really want Jose to come good because I thought he was going to be a good signing. But he needs to do more to make things happen. At least Fabio has been missing chances, Jose hasn’t even looked like scoring. But strikers are often confidence players and maybe if he could get one goal we would see what he is made of

Agree with that Boston. Fabio is a lightweight and very slow but he is showing promise and I have a feeling that he will come good sooner or later.
Willian Jose has contributed far more than people give him credit for. When Neves scored his header, Willian had made a run across the box drawing both central defenders with him and leaving a big space for Neves to stroll into unmarked and get an easy goal. Willian will score at some point I have no doubt but it's unfair to compare him to Jimenez who, if fit, would be far more comfortable leading the line than José.

Good points, and I also see improvement in Fabio. He is certainly getting used to playing, even if it is just for a few minutes. I have no doubt he will come good.
Being "lightweight" hasn't stopped many successful players by the way. I'm thinking Solskjaer and Lingard. Moutinho is only 9.6 stone.

We seem to forget how little Silva offered when he was starting and see a couple of ten minute cameos and think he is the bolloks again. Usually in those late stages we are actually trying to get the ball in the box whereas Jose has been playing in the first half where we don't get it in the box. Fair to say Jose isn't looking great though and if Nuno doesn't rate him then no problem not picking him anymore and using the time to give Silva more experience.

I would like to see us use the remaining games to take a look at our loan to buy options, we are not really playing for much at this stage, finishing top ten or finishing twelve/thirteenth in the grand scheme of things won't shape our future but knowing whether we should spend 20 million on Aït-Nouri or Vitinha will have an impact.

neither look much at the moment so why not give them a half each

I really think we should give Fabio Silva some slack here. He's only 18 and is in a foreign country. He's been asked to fill the shoes of a very good striker in Jimenez. He's had chances for sure to score and fluffed them, but the same could be said of some of the established strikers we've bought in the past and who have failed. This is arguably the toughest league in the world and he's up against world class defenders for most of the time. So for some on here, give the kid a break. The club didn't spend 36m for nothing and with more game time, coupled with him settling in, he'll come good I'm sure.

I don't think he really gets as much grief as is made out Wolfie. But if he is starting games he needs to be judged accordingly whether it is his fault or not(it isn't). I think the issue many have is that we spent 35 million on a project when we needed a ready made option but at least the club recognised they made an error regarding squad depth hence bringing in Jose in January.

My personal feeling is that Silva is not going to be a big star, he is a poor header of a ball and lacks any pace at all. He is still young though and maybe his other skills will make up for his deficiencies and he certainly seems more comfortable in his small cameos the last few weeks. It was a shame for him that when he was first called upon he would have been under huge pressure as our season was very much alive, now it is quite different.

I don’t think Fabio is lightweight compared to most other 18 year old players. In some of his hold up play he’s shown some good body strength for his age. And although he’s clearly not as quick as the likes of Traore and Neto, I wouldn’t say he was noticeably slow compared to Jimenez

I said I thought he was naive and I stick by that. He is bullied too easy and is shoved off the ball.
I do think he can become a good player but he needs more physicality.
I am not knocking him and he needs time, but for me at the moment he should not be starting.
Football is a harsh business and not all make it.

There has been concerns that British based players would need to quarantine for two weeks after returning from internationals in Portugal at the end of March. But they have got over that problem by agreeing to play the games at Ronaldo’s home pitch in Turin

That's good news and may solve the problem we've been having on the right side of the defence. Move Dendonker into the midfield.

Bar Jimenez we could be back to full strength then on Saturday. Although he's not done a lot, I think we've looked marginally better with José in the central role, his hold up play and touch has been good, he just hasn't looked like scoring since the palace game.

I'd like to think that our target now is to finish above Villa, not much of a target I know but would be something to take from a distinctly average season.
