The minimum pricing has led to better quality beer through increased competition. If £2.50 per litre is the minimum for 5% beer then there is a huge level of competition at that price. You can't just make a cheap and nasty mass produced beer and sell it at £1.50 per litre which would blow away the competition.
This has made smaller breweries more viable and provides the customer with an excellent choice.

Smoking is bad. That's my analysis on that one.

You know I hadn't thought about that, I know someone who manages the hidden lane brewery and she was saying things are thriving for that Industry as people are switching to them as they are similar price to poorer quality stuff.

Hadn't twigged minimum pricing will have in part forced that.

I'm not really that bothered though tennents pretty much costs the same as it did.

Obviously not a serious proposal, but highlighting the fact that when crimes like that are committed by men against women, the response is always to tell women to change their behaviour, dress differently, not stay out too late. It shifts the blame onto the victim by focusing on how to prevent women from becoming victims rather than how to prevent men becoming perpetrators.

Your missing the point. Its a gradual increase in telling you as a grown adult what you can and cannot do with regard to perfectly legal products, tobacco, alcohol and sugar. Now its a very slippery slope IMO this hate speech law.

The vast majority of us are perfectly capable of policing ourselves and our diets and vices without it being law.

Give it 50 years and it will be 'Logan's Run' after 50 your too much of a burden so off you pop

And if what is being reported is correct and the man in question was aided and abetted by his wife/girlfriend after the event, should all women who might be bad also have to have a 6pm curfew...what a joke.

I offered no comment on a curfew - only that a life unjustly taken in the most horrendous manner is more important than what she looks like or what class she is...

Hopefully it's clear that I agree with you, but unfortunately that's not the way the southern England-centric media works.

Tbh I'd be quite happy to see orange walks and republican marches banned. Far more trouble than they're worth.

I don't understand why they don't hire a venue and sell tickets for people who want to come and see them.

No complicated routes to manage. A day out for all. And a few bucks raised for whatever charities they support.

And, more importantly, that way they wouldn't piiss off everyone else who isn't interested in either of their nonsense.
