Some amusing comments on here I have to say.

I have two points I would like to make.

1. I think that a country is doing pretty well if we have to continue using an example of systemic racism from 28 years ago. 28 years ago people...
2. If anyone can share with me a report on systemic racism in Britain (and I’ll even accept from the US) that demonstrates systemic racism that doesn’t fall apartment when broken down into racial subgroups then I’ll be very happy to read it.

What I mean by racial subgroups is that with all the reports that purport to demonstrate systemic racism they basically show data proving that white is doing better than BAME in whatever category. The problem is that when you break it down you notice that the disparities remain or even increase between between racial subgroups such as Indians vs Bangladeshis or African vs Caribbean. If systemic RACISM exists then why on earth do Indians & Africans do better? Why do Far East Asians do better than all of us??!!

It’s nonsense that people have gobbled up either because they’ve experienced horrible discrimination in their lives and therefore conclude that it must be systemic rather than individual archaic, moron is racists, or it’s the white liberals purporting to be virtuous and make themselves feel good or it’s the very worst kind who know that it’s exaggerated bs but they profit from this and they don’t want to lose their gravy train.

If anyone can deal with point 2 properly - I will be over the moon but I highly doubt they can.

I wasn’t sure whether to both assign the obvious but I will: there are racist people in this country in 2021, yes. Systemically racist country though is an entirely different question and so far not proven by the facts.

There’s an abundance of facts you (and the government) are simply choosing to ignore.

Nah, just tired of this crap. A detailed insightful report with a lot of extensive commentary gets reduced to claims of whitewashing because it doesn't press the Left's button.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah very lazy. You can see the bias here. Look at who they hired to lead it. I'd have been shocked if they didn't make these conclusions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You mean an extensive panel of insightful and educated people that don't subscribe to baseless claims about structural racism?

As for claims it told people what the government wanted to hear, I will wait for said triggered people to read the report. Supposedly ivory tower academics who think the UK is a structurally racist place would be completely impartial in their reporting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's why it needs to be done by someone impartial, which you are suggesting it isn't, despite saying it is. There isn't just two extreme opinions either way. The internet just makes you think this and need to join one of the sides.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This thread is a rich hunting grounds for Barry. Fools getting Barry'd all over.

Ireland was quite a racist country when I was growing up. My old man (RIP) would have had no qualms about using the N word.

Even growing up, I was born in 1974 but was probably at least 10 before I saw a black person.

We pointed and stared as kids, not because we were racist but because we had never seen a black person before.

It's moved on a lot thankfully and is now very multicultural and diverse.

That said plenty of neanderthals about especially in rural Ireland.

And 24 years isn't even a generation. Some people think that's a long time when it really isnt in the grand scheme. Human rights campaigners are begging to get the blueprint that fixes it all within 24 years.
