Agree.

I was walking home from my football match this evening, past a homeless guy who looked like he was wasting away.

I was heading into dominos to grab myself some cookies anyway, but I bought him some garlic bread and a small pizza and cookies for himself.

Took it to him and he broke down in tears, brought a year to my eye as well.
I walked off in quite a depressed mood, not sure why.

Here's people complaining about petrol, and there's peoples on the streets, struggling to survive.

Then there's countries like Afghanistan......... etc

Yes, a lot of us are pretty fortunate here.

It is not the first time.

I had to drive from Cambridgeshire to Dundee yesterday for work and had no choice but to queue up for fuel. Guy in front of me had 4 25ltr Jerry cans in his boot. It’s mental how some people react. I was wondering how many toilet rolls he had left at home.

If it hadn’t been reported on the news, people wouldn’t panic buy and it would all be ok. Mental.

Maximum allowance in your boot is 30ltr over 2 cans

We could say a lot of things are worse, no doubts they're are, doesn't detract from the specific 5hitshow that is this self-inflicted fuel crisis.

Filled my car up yesterday at Costco. No queue there which is probably because you need to be a member.

It's very unusual situation, and makes me thankful that we are dealing with a situation like this for the first time.

It’s not the first time. Happened in 2000 too. And we are dealing with it because people are facking idiots. Voted tory, voted Brexit, then easily manipulated sheep then running to the petrol station to panic buy when they don’t need to. I have no respect for these people.

This whole thing has been caused by idiocy.

We have 100 miles (less the at my wife drives) on a single car whilst I wait for a new car which is already a month late due to a lack of semi conductors.

We both worked last week from home with bad colds so need to be in at times this week, no fuel to be seen. Apparently our local Sainsbury’s had fuel delivered at 6AM and there was a queue as people got wind.

Passed a fair few garages on a trip out yesterday...so real queues to speak of, although I note our local coop is shut this morning

only fill up once a month luckily...Mrs Pepper needs some today though

it’s ridiculous!! I’m driving back to Cambridgeshire from Dundee today, so if anyone gets frustrated at the hold ups I apologise in advance. It’ll be me doing the most efficient drive of my life to get home

People have gone mad mate. Fighting on the forecourt, and car kicking apparently. The mad thing is, I needed to fill up on Friday, and there was a 40 car queue at Tesco, drove half a mile down the road and the was a shell station with one car in there.

One of my favourite authors is a guy Nassim Nicholas Taleb who wrote the black swan (and other books about probability) he is from the Lebanon. His family were aristocracy, then the war broke out and then end up as refugees in New York. It obviously had a huge impact on his awareness of underestimated systematic collapses.

It all ties in an some perverse way with the panic buying we are seeing

I'm not sure that there is even any fuel crisis. The supposed shortage of drivers sounds like a load of crap to me. You can't drive these petrol tankers with just an HGV licence - you also need a certificate to carry hazardous materials. I come into contact with a lot of tanker drivers through work and they are hardly ever foreigners. So I am a bit dubious about the fact that the exit from the EU has caused this driver shortage of petrol tanker drivers. I was having a chat with one of the drivers from our local oil depot and he also said that it is just a load of rubbish created by the media/government.

The more likely truth here is that there is a huge stockpile of fuel due to COVID and people not using their cars as much. This fuel has a shelf life of about 6 months if stored correctly.

Rather than allow the fuel to spoil you create a demand for it with some BS story about there being a shortage.

There obviously is a crisis, look at the comments above.
Who's to blame is arguable but fundamentally there is a crisis, garages are closed with no fuel.

I pass 3 different brands of petrol station stations on my way to work, all 3 were coned off and closed today.

But is the crisis real? Is there really a shortage of petrol tanker delivery drivers? The only only reason petrol stations are now out of petrol is because of people panic buying and filling up jerry cans, petrol tanks, tools etc. There wasn't any supply issue before the media started reporting a fuel shortage.

Media only report what's going on, those were the facts so I'm not buying the blame the media narrative.
How our fellow citizens determine how to react is on them, the fact theyre listening to the Government saying there is no crisis yet still decide to queue for hours speaks volumes imo they don't seem to have faith/trust in what they're hearing.

It's a temporary storm but it's my opinion it's an avoidable mess that we've got ourselves in.

My wife has surgeries next week booked for some very sick patients.

She has no petrol in her car and all local petrol stations are closed now.

So she cant get to work. So wont go. And all those patients will have to wait until petrol is available.

So how lucky should these patients really feel right now?. I suppose they have at least probably got food in their larders though. Lucky beggars.

No idea what the fuss is about. I went to a Tesco this morning and got fuel no bother. I also got enough fuel to last me the whole month. Just storing it in the house until I need it.

It’s not solely caused by lack of drivers from the EU, there’s multiple reasons why there’s a shortage and that’s just one of the contributing factors.

The idea that the government would want to push that narrative is clearly ridiculous if you think about it, which is why they’re focussing more on the companies and working conditions.
