Then they are morons, who doesn't look at how a manager has performed in the competitions they have participated in
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What was Ange's trophy record in Japan before he came to Celtic without googling?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're just punters on the Internet mate. We're not interviewing for a manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But clearly not important when you were forming your opinion of the decision, which is my point.

In Scotland it's relevant, elsewhere it isn't. Most people will perceive him as the guy who took Rangers from third place to win their first title in 10 years as the most recent league played for. They won't care about what has happened before that.

Sorry, just not buying the Gerrard to EPL club thing.

Winning a league or a few cups in Scotland is in no way attractive enough for an EPL club dealing in hundreds of millions of pounds in transfers to take a risk on.

Sure he’s a well known name but how long is it since he had any dealings in any fashion at EPL level? Plenty of managers with well known names out there.

Rodgers had to win countless trophies before anyone even thought of him and even then Leicester were and are a run of the mill EPL club. Gerrard is nowhere near his stature. Not even close.

My belief is he will move to a Championship level side to get onto the rung.

Gerrard more likely to be wanted by Norwich IMO

That’s being considered Lampard’s to take.

Ultimately Gerrard was schooled by Neil Lennon.

It look Lennon to leave for Gerrard to win his first trophy up here.

He has had the opportunity to go to 3 clubs in the time he has been here so not quite the case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you say that. If a big club wants any player or staff member at Rangers they get them.

Anyone who is still there has not had a serious approach from a serious club.

He's already knocked back 2 EPL jobs and 1 Championship. He will manage there at some point but hopefully not any time soon.

Serious enough to be offered the job if he wanted it. Obviously not the right jobs at the right time. Not to say he wouldn't knock back the right one.

Yup...the EPL clubs don't need a 'name' to sell season tickets or boost revenues.

Ange was second choice and for many (including me) the jury is still out.

Also consider when we dumped Lennon, we weren’t in exactly a good place to attract anyone of note. Which is exactly where Rangers will likely be when Gerrard does eventually leave.

Isn’t there a buy out clause were Gerrard to go? I think I read some dafty mention £20m. If that’s the case it might solve a lot of problems for them. £20m guaranteed or gamble on the CL which may or may not happen anyway.

Eh?

What jobs were he offered that he then knocked back? His name might have been mentioned but he didn’t get as far as interview as far as I know.

Wasn't meant as a criticism of Ange, was just to highlight that it's not that relevant. As a fan when you get a new Manager you tend to look at what's happened recently. Where are his team just now and where did they finish last season, and what has been the trajectory over the time there?

I don't think anyone would knock Gerrard because he won 0/6 trophies in his first two seasons if they saw that he won the league by 25 points undefeated in his third.

Nope.

Most will just see it as the craziness of the two horse, much derided and scoffed at league they hear about.

Rodgers was the exception and we were lucky to get him when we did.
