People were saying this all through March 2020 and all through December 2020. I wonder if they ever figured out that the 1000+ people dying daily in April 2020 and January 2021 were among those rising cases that were so ‘irrelevant’ a month earlier. Probably not.
We’re hoping this time things will be different because a) we have decent vaccine coverage and b) Omicron appears to be a milder strain. We don’t know yet though.

It’s a simple point, but alcoholism isn’t contagious and doesn’t double every few days if you let it. Neither do road accidents, heart attacks and cancer. I always think the ‘what about other causes of death’ is an odd route for people to go down when discussing Covid.

It's not a competition. But I do take your point in that alcoholism is a well known infectious disease that can be spread from person to person. Oh wait, no, it isn't. So obviously different measures should be taken when something is.
They would ban alcohol if they didn't like it as much as us. But everyone knows that too much kills you.

People were saying this all through March 2020 and all through December 2020. I wonder if they ever figured out that the 1000+ people dying daily in April 2020 and January 2021 were among those rising cases that were so ‘irrelevant’ a month earlier. Probably not.
We’re hoping this time things will be different because a) we have decent vaccine coverage and b) Omicron appears to be a milder strain. We don’t know yet though.

Not saying that at all. But, I am saying it's not so ridiculous that govts around the world want to exploit covid for their own benefits.

On the contrary, it would be ridiculous to claim that they don’t - our rabble have been almost brazen about it. But it’s not just governments ‘pushing the Covid/vaccine narrative’, is it? Medical professionals who can’t stand the government (Samantha Batt-Rawden is one example) have written about how grim the January wave was in hospitals and encourage vaccination.

You're right, but alcohol does kill those that aren't drinking.
Of course covid can be given to others, so everyone should take their own precautions. Wear a hazmat if you like.

It’s a simple point, but alcoholism isn’t contagious and doesn’t double every few days if you let it. Neither do road accidents, heart attacks and cancer. I always think the ‘what about other causes of death’ is an odd route for people to go down when discussing Covid.
