Crazy how probably the 3 best tennis players ever have all played in the same era. 22 now for Nadal, 20 each for Federer and Djokovic and each had their speciality- Nadal the best on clay, Djokovic the best on hard court and Federer on grass. All of them were at least fairly versatile across all surfaces at their peak though.
Totally dominated the whole sport for such a long time now and none of the new generation even get close to them. Nadal could push around a zimmerframe around Roland Garros and still end up winning.
Imagine how many grand slams one of them could have won had the other two not been around
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Raises the question if they would have been as driven to push the number. Federer was pretty chilled at 16 & 17 before he realized what was happening

Was thinking about that earlier. Would they have been so good without the other 2 thougy?
In theory any one of them could've won something silly like 40 slams without the others taking a share

There were a couple of pole vaulters (1 male, 1 female) who appeared to have no equals and just slowly progressed the pole vault world record over several years in order to secure the prize money you get for breaking a world record.
So dominant beating everyone else wasn't even the main concern
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Duplantis?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they were a few years ago now. Was a bit controversial at the time as it's likely we never saw their actual best as they only used to bother increasing the height by a CM each tournament. They may have peaked without having truly pushed themselves yet still won everything.
Can understand though with the money in athletjcs not being particularly high compared to many other sports
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah that's what Duplantis does now. Just breaks his own world record every few months. Your guy is pretty irrelevant now
Pretty sure the OP here is referring to a specific type of dominance in a sport, like Nadal has on clay.
Nolan Ryan was by far the most dominant baseball pitcher of all time, that's all I can offer
There was a good stat during the french open where a commentator pointed out that Djokovic & Nadal have won 10 years of Grand Slams between them.

Thank you
The head to head between the 3 actually suggests that Federer is in fact the WORST player of all time
Since Wimbledon 2002,
Nadal - 22 majors
Federer - 20 majors
Djokovic - 20 majors
Everyone else combined - 13 majors
What about the ped to peds?
Wimbledon & the US Open will be intense as Djokovic tries to tie it up.
Personally I think Rafa is only continuing because he doesn’t think the rest can stop an in-form Djokovic at Slams. Which he’s probably right about, unless Alcaraz or one of the next-gen steps up to the plate.

Andy Murray is like the real Ronaldo. Best player of all time but just hindered by injuries so didn't win as much

He should have got another 2. 5 Slams and he could really be held separate from the likes of Wawrinka. He needed a couple of good runs ending in finals against guys like Roddick or Soderling.
Unfortunately for him he usually got Djokovic, who was 5% better than him in pretty much aspect of their games.
Think Murray is a long way ahead of Wawrinka to be fair.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So do I, but he needed a couple more slams to cement it. Great record in Masters 1000 and titles overall but they are both on 3 grand slams, and they shouldn’t be.
It was always very close between Nadal, Djokovic and Murray. They just got unlucky that their careers all happened at the same time and didn't get to beat Pat Rafter and like in finals like Federer did. Different levels. Federer should not be mentioned in the same breath as them

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is. But unfortunately history won't remember it that way.
Murray won a lot more Masters, was World #1 and won 1 ATP Finals & 2 Gold Medals, so he clearly was better than Stan.
But he needed an extra major or two to confirm that. Truth is, Murray should have won 6-8 majors but he mentally was always daunted playing the other 3 in majors.
