Pochettino odds on with the bookies to be next Villa manager
Are they in such a different league to us in terms of relative club size that they can go straight out and get pochettino who we don't appear to have even considered to be within our reach such that it was even worth trying? (that seemed to be the journalistic view too - totally unrealistic)

Wolfie is the Liz Truss of the Wolves board. Constant u-turns without ever admitting he's wrong.

Maybe you should just try to answer my question as to how we're in a relegation fight and not pushing for a place in Europe, instead of stupid remarks.
I'll admit when I'm wrong and have so many times. However, apart from stating that I didn't think Bruno would get sacked, I don't see much else wrong with my comments. I have repeatedly stated that we rely too much on one man and players from his country. Where am I wrong there?
Maybe if you could tell us all why we should keep players that can't score goals, then you might gain a little respect.

You have to assume it is down to how we approach managers. I don't really see why we shouldn't have any chance of getting Pochettino on the face of it given we have spent big in the summer, have several very good players a solid academy these days and wealthy owners.
Pochettino is kidding himself right now if he thinks a big job is coming, especially now Tuchel is available and I also suspect Gallardo would get several big jobs ahead of Poch as well. Poch did a pretty poor job at PSG and failed to win the league title didn't he?
Pocchetino won the French league and Cup whilst at PSG but the fans didn't warm to him after only finishing runners up in his first season and of course their owners want the CL which he failed to deliver.
Truth is we don't know whether Pocchetino or Tuchel were approached, we can only make the assumption. Certainly been no press speculation re those two. Problem is we're no longer that up and coming club with mega rich and ambitious owners that could attract the best coaches and players.
Do think the club structure went down the hill when we sacked Thelwell and Dalrymple and didn’t replace them. Whether or not they were doing a great job is not the point. Not replacing them put Jeff in a position of total control over many things where has very little experience. The loans of Traore, Fabio and Coady were stupid as was sacking Bruno without having a replacement lined up, then being unable to persuade targets to come to the club. It has shown Jeff to be not up to the mark in terms of the responsibilities he has given himself

I didn't realise it was my question to answer. I said at the start of the season that the likes of you and Amiga were overrating us. I didn't think we would be pushing for Europe this season.
I've made my views perfectly clear on why we can't score. We are a team without identity that doesn't create overloads, move the ball quickly enough or directly enough around the final third. It's an issue that we have had since we were promoted (we've never been able to break teams down when we have a lot of possession) and since we lost the ability up front to counter with only two players (Jota and Jimenez) it's become more and more evident. I don't think much will change until we appoint a manager who will give us something different in possession and put their own stamp on our playing style.
In terms of earning respect, I'm not sure you're the right poster to be giving out advice on that.
So basically what you're saying is, we don't have the right players or the right manager and that won't change until we appoint a manager to give us something different.
Weren't we told that Bruno was going to be more of an attacking coach? Where did that go?
The root of the problem is Mendes, coupled with the fact that Jeff Shi hasn't got a clue what he's doing.
We are better playing 3 at the back and having wing backs who are better at that job, than defending in a back four.
I've been saying that for years Wolfie. We've needed new faces and a manager who can change our style for a while now. It's you that was adamant we would challenge for Europe both this season and last season.
I'm not sure what point it is that you think you are proving to be honest.
The point I'm trying to make and has been for quite a while now, is that in order to change our whole system we have to move away from Mendes. That's the problem plus Shi.
How come no one else can see that?
Because it is totally false. Mendes doesn't dictate how we play.
I do think we may have had a bit of a watershed moment with Mendes. As the agent of Lopetegui he should have been able to advise Jeff on whether the guy would want the job if it was offered to him. The fact that Jeff travelled to Spain to meet them both to discuss the post only to be told that Lopetegui wasn’t interested in ours or any other job at the moment, was a failure on the agents part.
Don’t think it’s a coincidence that shortly afterwards there were reports the club were now looking outside the Mendes agency for their man.
I think everyone can see we need to move away from Jeff Shi being in control.
The Mendes stuff is a load of nonsense though. We have benefitted from links to him and signed players we wouldn't normally have been able to get. The problem is that Jeff is clueless what to do without him, so remove Mendes and you only have the bad left.
Not sure what really happened with Lopetegui but it doesn't have to have been a real breakdown in communication. Could just be a simple case of Lopetegui being interested but then pondering the situation and declaring not right this minute.
Wasn’t Sunny predicting that our squad (before the summer signings) was capable of challenging for a European place? Seems a little odd to now be saying Mendes has sold us a load of sub-standard players.
I have been saying for a long lone time now that we are too reliant on Mendes. He helped the club when Fosun took over because the owners had no idea how the Premier League set up works. I've also stated that having too many players from any one country is also a bad choice.
With the players Bruno had at the beginning of the season, we were more than capable of a decent finish, especially as we had Neto and Jimenez back from injuries.
Maybe there's too much influence in the dressing room, who knows, but whatever going on at the club, it needs to change.
Get players in who can score goals, not forwards who continually do fancy flicks and pass the ball sideways instead of getting to the byline an putting in crosses.
Traore was trying do that and Bueno was like a breath of fresh air and provided the cross for our goal. Why Ait- Nouri can't do that is beyond me.
If things don't start to improve, then the likes of Neves will no longer wish to be at this club and personally, I wouldn't blame him leaving.
The club in general have to change their policy when signing new players and move away from the Portuguese influence.

Of course he doesn't, but he seems to dictate who we buy and maybe the players he suggests cannot play as a unit. Another two brought in, one who seems to be settling in and one who seems disinterested and has not impressed at all.
Traore was trying do that and Bueno was like a breath of fresh air and provided the cross for our goal. Why Ait- Nouri can't do that is beyond me.
------------------
Ait-Nouri does do that, a goal and six assists last season. Scored on his debut against Palace as well don't forget. It is a coaching issue, nothing more. These guys have been drilled for a long time to be conservative in possession.
Yeah, when RAN first got into the team his delivery was really good. It seems to have been coached out of him though over the last year. We've all heard how Bruno discouraged our team from putting crosses in.
I'd love to see our full backs put a ball in behind defences from deep positions once every so often. It's the kind of thing Alexander Arnold and Robertson do for Liverpool. Completely a percentage ball from a difficult to defend position, but gives the forwards something to gamble on and creates panic in a defence.

Think Buenos cross has been blown out of proportion a little. No doubt it was a good cross but it is worth noting he had acres and acres of space and a stack of time to deliver it.
Would imagine he will start Sunday and why not, he played well enough to keep his spot for now.
It’s just theoretical stuff this. Liverpool have some of the best forwards in the world and have a number of players that score goals regularly. This is partly because of the supply they get but mostly because it’s part of their natural game to get into scoring positions. Traore, Podence, Neto even Jimenez nowadays don’t get into those positions often so don’t score many. Robertson and Alexander Arnold have been in and out of the Liverpool team lately with injuries but the strikers still score plenty. Wolves have brought in more creative players compared to last season in Nunes, Traore and Guedes but it hasn’t increased our scoring because we don’t have strikers
You have quite a low opinion of the ability of our players to be coached.
I have a high opinion of our players. I think we have a very good squad apart from the glaring omission of strikers
Every time anyone comments on our style of play, you make out as if we are playing at our limit for the number of goals we score and its impossible to score more.
Everyone knows we would be better with prolific strikers, but to pretend tactical tweaks and better coaching wouldn't have us scoring more than 5 goals in 11 games is ridiculous and quite frankly a pretty depressing view to hold. Your comments come across as someone who thinks the situation is hopeless and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
